Such a sad song and video it makes me cry everytime i watch It. He took that song to another level than NIN did.

I heard Johnny's version on Smallville once. It was chilling.

Try wrapping his version of Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage" around your brain as well.

Cash gave that song so much relevance.

It is a painful and sorrowful version of NIN's song.

His version is much more powerful.

His version of "Rusty Cage" is pretty damn good as well.
I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

Somebody watched Cash Uncut last night.....

Either way, Cash made that his song, no way Trent can ever reclaim it. :tu

If you think "Hurt" is chilling, give a listen to his last album "American V: A Hundred Highways". You'll hear a man that has come to grips that he doesn't have much time left and leaves us with one hell of an album.

"Unchained" is one of his best albums.

That is a great album.

It's kind of sad listening to it.
But, there's a strange comfort listening to it and knowning that this man died doing exactly what he loved doing.

But, you can feel the pain in his voice over the loss of June and so many others that had come into his life.

Great album.

From what I understand, Cash laid down "Hundered Highways" bare. It wasn't until after he passed that they went back in filled in the songs.

I read that on an article somewhere.

Rick Rubin, I believe, put it all together. He said that there was a tone of sadness in every song he sang. But, also a tone of finallity(sp). He knew it was all ending soon.

Rubin said that he went on a steep decline after June died. The songs refelect his sense of loss and loneliness, but also an acceptance of what was to come.
