Malik Rose....Trapped in New York. He should have a "things are way too fucked up in New York send me back to SA" clause in his contract.

Malik had a player option on his contract this summer. He decided to take the money and stay in NY.
Malik can too buyout his contract.

Malik isn't "trapped" at all with Knicks, he can leave when he wants as soon as he is ready to left some money. It's more Knicks that are "trapped" with him and his contract.

I thought he picked up that option early a few years ago, not anytime recently.

Still, the Knicks are not sucking just recently, money is obviously more important than having a chance to play in a contending team for him. :fro

I'm sure Rose would write a book on all the drama and schenanigans that he's witnessed during his time with the Knicks.

how bad can it be to make $7mil per, live in NY, get to participate in an NBA basketball game with no pressure to do well, travel, get to witness an entire NBA season live.

Malik has a dream job.

Malik's contract is part of the NY Knick's problem. Isaiah built an escape-proof cage--from the inside. :donkey

Rather than being trapped in NY, Malik is part of their self-constructed trap.

I don't remember of that. It was too an early termination option : you have to pick it if you want to shorten your contract. If you do nothing, you stay under contract. I don't even know if you can do something else than doing nothing to decline an ETO.

Realgm says that Malik didn't exercised his ETO at the deadline :

If you're miserable as a rich man, you're going to be miserable as a poor man too. So you might as well take the money.

Yeah i saw Malik play in the first game of 1999 finals against the Knicks....man that guy was very fiery, active and effective player back then! No wonder so many Spurs teammates were sad to see him get traded even if it made sense few years ago.

So you would trade money for Championships? :drunk Why do you thnk so many players go play for contenders and take less money.

I am sure of the opposite.
Rose didn't play with Knicks. I'm quite sure they would welcome a buyout with Rose. Knicks are above the luxury tax : if Rose give up $5M, Knicks will save $10M.

So you would trade money for Championships? :drunk Why do you thnk so many players go play for contenders and take less money.Usually because they are old and already have many millions in their portfolio. The vast majority simply get as much money as possible wherever they can get it.

Malik already has rings, and he already had a chance to give up money to go somewhere else. He stayed a Knick for $15 million. Not really that difficult a decision, apparently.
