View Full Version : "Green Out" at Mavs-Spurs tonight

Thursday, November 15, 2007, 7 PM at American Airlines Center!

Thursday will officially be Mavs and Texas National Guard “Green Out” night as the club takes on intrastate rival San Antonio.

Similar to last season’s Dirk for MVP campaign, the Mavs and Texas National Guard will distribute 20,000 green t-shirts to all of the fans as they enter American Airlines Center. Everyone in attendance is asked to put on the shirt as they enter the building to show support for our troops and the Mavs.

Prior to tipoff, the Texas National Guard will have a rock climbing wall out on the AT&T Plaza and will also provide the Color Guard during the National Anthem.
-----------------------

So, the Mavs finally get on-board with the whole "_____ Out" thing. I'm cool with that because it looks amazing when done properly (see: Golden State). My main worry is all the douchebags in the lower bowl won't participate because the t-shirt might cover up their $200 Izod. I'd be interested in seeing how it's pulled off.

Last year's Gray-Out with the Dirk MVP shirt failed miserably. But I don't think people realized what was supposed to be going on.

It would be great if it worked, but there's too many Dallas douches that sit in the lower level. The only ppl that get a pass are all the hot-ass MILFs that invade every Mav game. Dallas has got to be the MILF-iest place on earth.

The 'talent' at the games is phenomenal, that's for certain. But it bugs me to no end that they take up the best seats and couldn't tell you 2 players on the team if you spotted them Dirk.

Chris Arnold may have to spell it out about 50 times for people to get the picture.

Put the stupid shirt on, watch basketball, drink beer and yell. Not that hard, people. Turn off the cell phone and stop getting up every 3 minutes.

Last year I got nosebleed seats for the game against Cleveland. I noticed in the first half there were quite a few empty seats in the lower bowl so at halftime we snuck down to the lowerbowl and made ourselves at home. Those fuckers just passively sit on their hands like they're watching the CBS Evening News. And if you get up and yell or cheer they look at you like you have leprosy.

The lower level is incredible. I was at the Sacramento game and managed to score LL seats and my & my brother were by far the loudest guys in our section. Yea, I prefer sitting in nosebleeds any day, unless its the playoffs. In the playoffs, they get pretty loud too, but nosebleed people are fun as fuck. My favorite spot is at the very top, because the wall makes a ton of noise if you bang on it, and if you get a few people to bang it with you, then eventually the entire crowd starts doing it. Me and my brother did that at the Mavs vs. Suns game 6 in 2005... unfortunately we lost, but it was loud as fuck. We were also at the Mavs/Warriors game 5 this past year, and people started doing it, but the crowd was so ridiculously loud, we could barely hear it. That was by far the loudest game I've ever been to. Our section also got the crowd to start chanting "Bull-Shit!" after bad calls, like GS fans did.

I agree with mono, you can't beat the views from the lower bowl, you can practically hear what the players are saying. And it's true you get a better fan in the nosebleeds, people are friendlier and will strike up a convo with you, whereas the Highland Park crowd just wants to chat on their cellphones. Or as Rhyner calls it, "the cocaine and boobjob crowd."

Also, it's hard not to get a stiffy from all the MILF viewing.

He recently dyed his hair platinum, he's got the tight t-shirts, he's about 5'5", 50 necklaces, 10-degree hat tilt...all the prerequisites. But he's dating Jordan from the Mavs Dancers. Travesty.

Wow... what a douche...

I wonder if its possible to get lower level people to do strange chants like we got the upper level crowd to do? The best was when we got a bunch of the sections also chanting "YOU SUCK" when Davis was shooting free throws. I think I'm going to try that next time. I'm going to go to some Bobcats game, and sit right behind the goal, and every time Morrison shoots freethrows, I'm going to chant that, and see what the other people around me do.

Not sure if you'd know this (or any other Mavs fan), but is it true that alot of Mavs Dancers live at Austin Ranch? I got a friend that lives there and he swears to me that the hot tub there is filled with Mavs Dancers/Cowboys Cheerleaders on Friday and Saturday nights. I think he's full of shit because I've made the 30 minute drive there for the sole purpose of being shut down & rejected by them (but leaving with decent tug-job material), and I have yet to see them there.

If we ever run into the Warriors in the playoffs again, that's where the games should be.
In one of Magic Johnson's biographies, he said that Reunion Arena was one of the loudest opposing team arenas he played in, if not THE loudest.

I was kinda surprised to read that, I was too young for the Mavs 80's heyday and didn't move to Dallas until they were horrible, so my memories of Reunion were watching them get waxed by Utah with about 3000 other people who almost seemed like they'd rather be getting a root canal than watching the game.

I did get to go to a few games in their last year at Reunion when the team was decent, and I at least saw the potential that Reunion Arena had.

I never saw a playoff game there obviously, but one of the first games I did see was against the Rainbow Nuggets during the Doug Moe/Alex English era. Much better atmosphere, and the fans didn't need to be prompted by Humble Billy.

Sadly, Humble kept the crowd in it last night. I'd hate to see what it would be like if he wasn't there to remind them there was a game going on.

It's just what I do. Pump up the crowd, keep the noise going, and lead the Mavericks to victory! If I wasn't around this would be one mess of a franchise.

btw sometimes it's nice being Billy Hayes. Ocasionally women will press their naked boobs up against a window and shout "Oh, Billy!"

Midnight Express should be the official movie of the Dallas Mavericks. It's the story of Billy Hayes, starring Brad Davis.

I suggested we play clips of it during timeouts, but management gave me some bullcrap about the AAC being a "family enviroment" and that the clips weren't appropriate.

Isn't that the movie about doing life in a Turkish prison?

The "green out" looked kinda weird on TV considering the Mavs and the court are blue now.

I like the AAC as a basketball venue. (I've seen a few concerts there and one was good and one wasn't. When I was on the floor for an Incubus show a few years ago, it sounded good. Plus the band was good. When I was in the uppers for the chili peppers in January, the sound kinda sucked and the band was not good.)

I'm not a big fan of Reunion.
