Apparently, it's not just WalMart Cakes. It's Kroger too!

We are having a good-bye party for my coworker this afternoon/evening. He's moving to Buffalo, NY to be with his long-time girlfriend. He's a big Astros fan and so we decided to order an Astro's themed cake. My boss ordered from Kroger, since she's used them before for her children's cakes and they taste fine.

The cake was supposed to say "Don't strike out in Buffalo! We'll miss you Andrew!"

Instead it says:

Top left corner: Dont

Top right corner: stric Kout

Middle: We'll miss you!

Bottom left corner: In Bufalo, Ny

Bottom right corner: ANDREW!


That's not even discussing the bizarre plastic figures on the cake. I have pics, but can't post right now, because my cord is at home. But, oh, whatever you picture can't be far off.

Most of the people I see working here at Kroger bakeries are not young Americans ... they just don't speak very good English.

From what I understand, it was the misspelled cake or no cake, because no one would be able to go pick up a corrected cake later today.

And really, it sums up the relationship between Andrew and my workplace very, very well. . .

No shit right, I know HEB sells (custom) cakes in boxes to where you can see the cake without opening it. I just don't understand people not checking to see if what the cake says is right.

I worked in a deli/bakery for awhile with HEB and we had plenty of people who didn't speak English too well. All they did was have someone who DOES speak English take the order.

The order form had a cake on it and we just wrote exactly what was supposed to be said so they could copy it letter-for-letter. We were required to show them the cake before they paid. If by chance something was wrong, we could usually just take a standard cake out of the cooler and re-write it. Takes five minutes max.

That's probably why every cake I get from HEB has the frosting written on a piece of ribbon that they lay on top of the cake. If it's wrong I guess they can just take the ribbon off and write on a new ribbon. :lol
