This is not for who is the best at each position... its a team that would work hand-in-hand the best with each other.

For me it would be one of these two teams...

Team 1

PG - Gary Payton
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - Larry Bird
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Hakeem Olajuwon

Team 2

PG - Steve Nash
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - Bruce Bowen
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Hakeem Olajuwon

For each team, it depends on what you want. If you want a shut-down defensive PG with good all around skills in Payton, and a great shooter with all the heart and determination in the world in Bird, team 1 is the way to go. If you want a PG who has no offensive flaws, and most importantly will NEVER miss the open jumper in Nash, and a larger shut-down defender who can also defend PG's, especially bigger ones such as Magic, or quicker PF's such as Dirk, as well as knocking down that corner three at the biggest moments in a game in Bruce Bowen, then team 2 is my choice.

After that, you have Jordan, who is obvious. Duncan who is a born winner, and doesn't need the ball to be effective, but can also dominate at will at both ends. Then Olajuwon who can do everything a center needs to do, and is much like Duncan... clutch, doesnt need the ball to be effective, but can dominate at will on both ends of the court.

Personally, I like team 2 a bit better though.

What are your teams?

I'd go three guard with Magic, West and Jordan and have Duncan and Hakeem as my frontcourt.

Nice.

I would go Magic and Jordan at the guards, Bird and Duncan at the forwards and Russell at C.

My 2nd team would be Oscar Robertson and Gervin at the G's (yeah..a tad homerish) :)

Erving and Barkley at the F's and Hakeem at C

I'd have said Robertson over West, but I figure West was the better long-range shooter of the two, and I want an assassin from range on my team. Jordan could get hot, but I want a consistant threat. Plus having three ballhandlers in the half-court and transition would absolutely murder other teams.

My hardest omission was Bird. Would love to sneak him in, but if we're limited to a five-man starting unit, then he's unfortunately out.

If I could go seven man, I'd have Bird and Russell off the bench. Maybe start Bird and West at random, depending on the team faced? I take this too seriously.

Ron Harper
Michael Jordan
Scottie Pippen
Dennis Rodman
Luc Longley.

With Kukoc off the bench.

I think they'd win 70.

The team you couldn't fucking score more than 50 against in their primes:

PG Payton
SG Bowen
SF Pippen
PF DRob
C Russell

That wouldn't even be a bad offensive team, either. Twixt Pippen, Payton and Robinson, you have your three scorers, and Bowen is great at keeping the floor spread along with Pippen.

That's a solid team.

Magic, Jordan, Bird, Duncan, Russell.

OK, 2 defensive liabilities in the perimeter, but let them opponents go baseline to meet Mr. Duncan & Russell. :smokin
