It's just a rumor. I don't have proof and its just hearsay but there is talk in the halls of Aggieland that after Fran is shown the door, Major Applewhite will be given consideration for the job.
I hope not, I want him to eventually replace Mack Brown.
I think Kubiak would be good for them, he's young, has Aggie ties and knows his X's and O's.

Major would be too young, I think. As much as I'd like him because of his fire and maybe his hidden desire to burn Mack for starting Simmba all those years...

Major will be a good coach someday. It would be a bit of a reach at this point to see him as a HC next season.

Major has gone 1-11, 7-6, and now 6-5 in his three years of being an offensive coordinator. Someone explain to me, besides the obvious eff you to Orangebloods, why the Ags would want that pedigree combined with zero head coaching experience to run their program.
He's got a bright future ahead of him, and will eventually be one of the youngest head coaches in recent memory in D-1. But his path is going to go through another couple of years under Saban or a first head job at the MAC / Sun Belt level.
Pat Fitzgerald took over the Northwestern program at 31, and Major's 29 right now. I didn't think Fitzgerald was ready after Walker died and I doubt Major will be in two years either.
