How many layups did the Kings get when Bonner WASN'T on the floor? A LOT.

Pop has lots to work with now.
That's a good thing.

A back-to-back loss in November isn't the end of the world.
They're not a division rival.
Learn from it and move on.

Except that if Pop were the coach of the Kings he would have benched Beno when Darius stole the ball from him. Hard to have too much energy from the bench.

I have to say that when Pop benched Beno in the 2006 playoffs in favor of VAn Excel and STAYED With VAn Excel game after game when it was clear to anyone with one eyeball that Excel was finished, that really must have killed any confidence Beno had and frustrated him to a point where he became very negative. I mean how many shitty games & SERIES did Parker have in his first 3 to 4 years in the league (and he still has clunkers like tonight even now), yet Pop never benched Parker. With young players, you need to play them even if they are making some mistakes and i just feel that Pop didn't manage Beno properly. I understand that Beno didn't respond properly but then it's possible that Parker would also have sulked and turned negative, and lose all his confidence if he was benched for prolonged period of time or entire playoff series like Beno was.

Not defending Beno for his poor play in the past few years but i always thought he had talent and unfortunately it didn't work out in San Antonio. because by the time he left, he was a broken young man.

I think its hilarious that so many people are "surprised" by Beno tonight. I'm not going to say I thought he was going to score his career high, but give me a break people, its well known that Beno was (is) a good ball player. More than a few people felt he was a better pure PG than Tony.

NVE year fucked him up, and the Spurs. End of story. I didn't like Darius Washington originally, but I think he could be pretty good and decent replacement. Problem his, he a shoot first PG, and they already have that.

Not only that, but Beno mostly shut down Tony. Kory I thought Tony could penetrate at WILL against any team and any defender....well, perhaps everyone except Beno, the all-star defender that bEno is....i am pissed but that was just bad basketball from spurs. I've never been more disappointed in Parker. He had a chance to dominate against the worst defensive PG not named Nash, and he let him off the hook. I never thought the Spurs would let Beno go off like that, show some fucking pride, at least enough pride to beat down the fool who never showed up to play while on your team and talked shit about you behind your back overseas. After all that shit he said this summer and the broken finger bullshit I don't understand not playing this one with playoff intensity and going balls out to fuck that bitch up. I mean, he only been in the Kings system for a few weeks and he's looking pretty damn good. When he gets familiar with their system and his teammates, he just might be a tough out. I'm the biggest Manu fan..but we need him to score more than 9 points against the Kings so no he didn't show up! 3-12 isn't a Manu game!

Do you know what showing up means?

You can still show up while shooting like shit, as Manu did tonight.

Manu was disruptive, getting hands on loose balls, diving on the floor, hitting open teammates under the basket - he just couldn't shoot. The effort was there.

Tony, on the other hand...

I really don't understand why they didn't go into duncan more tonight. I mean, TD has always dominated Miller and Moore isn't going to stop him. Instead we jack up jumpers after jumpers.....Parker has to understand mismatches and get the ball to the right teammates, especially when neither he nor Gino could hit anything. TAKE what the defence gives you...and not force things.

Well, that sucked. I left the game with about 5 minutes left in the 4th.

The Spurs managed to cut the lead to 7-8 and I thought they'd get the come back but they let the Kings do what they did all night again.

Udrih wanted this game and it showed. I don't ever remember him playing that well for the Spurs. It really hurt when Parker was having a shit game.

Ginobli's stats look better than he played. He never looked into it offensively but he had some sweet passes to Oberto. It's going to be a long night when Ginobli and Parker struggle scoring and the zone takes Duncan out of the game.

Bowen hit a couple nice shots and really pestered Martin all night long. I'm rather surprised he didn't play more minutes.

Finley continues to struggle shooting but it was funny listening to those around me when he hit those 3's. I didn't see it but the radio guy was talking about him hanging out in the Kings huddle. It wasn't a timeout but when the clock was out. He got a kick out of that.

The zone really messed with the Spurs. It hurt Duncan the most because he was abusing whoever inside.

I thought Udoka, Bonner, and Washington had some nice plays and brought hustle and energy when no one else was. Bonner still looks clueless on defense though. He missed so much that I wanted to pull my hair out.

Oberto is fun to watch around the basket. How do people lose him around there? He gets so many easy baskets it's a crime.

Besides Udrih, it was Moore and Miller that hurt the Spurs. Miller with open jumpers and nice passing and Moore was cutting to the basket and threw down some dunks.

I'm not too upset with the loss. Back-to-back night and the Spurs were bound to lay an egg sooner or later.

Simple. Vaughn is not lazy.that lazy thing came out after Beno was traded. I never heard Pop talked about him being lazy while he was here.

well, I'm just weary PGs are hard to come by. And we had him here for so long, learned the system then we let him go and chose an aging one instead.

That lazy thing never officially came out. It was self-evident to anyone closely observing the situation. The Spurs organization doesn't trash players publicly.

Harry Callahan
11-27-2007, 01:19 AM
So Beno got motivated for the first time in approximately 175 NBA games. What a gutless jerk.

Just remember Sacramento, you can't trust this guy. He will tease you a little bit like tonight and then quit on you when the going gets tough and the pressure to perform increases. Keep in mind he is now on a one year contract and may have finally realized his NBA career was hanging in the balance.

With Mike Bibby coming back soon, Beno will actually exert himself for the next 10-15 games to showcase himself before heading back to the bench. If a team provides Beno with a mult-year contract for good money, that team will be sorry. He will catch a ride on the gravy train as soon as his signature on a new contract dries.

This little "performance" tonight proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that this turd stole $4-5 Million from the Spurs (and the fans who pay for tickets).

Yup, 'ol Beno really showed up mean old coach Pop. He really punished that bad old coach who is guilty of doing his job and realizing last year he had to get a more effective alternative at the backup PG spot.

A heartless, lazy player who quits on a champoinship caliber team is simply not worth the trouble.

Slack is for suckers like Beno!

Seriously, no big deal with this game, many are just pissed (myself included) that the Spurs didn't put the smack down on Beno for being the waste of space he was for 3 years.

I wonder if Pop, knowing how the game turned out anyway, would practically sit TD and TP and give Washington, Udoka, Elson, Bonner, Barry, and Vaughn (along with limited minutes from Manu) bigger minutes and let them fight this game out? That would have been interesting to see since apparently Parker and Duncan were gassed from the get-go.
