If the Ags go, hopefully they will do better than the last time they played JoePa in the Alamodome.

I sure hope Texas doesn't get this matchup. Mack and Greg are far too stupid and one dimensional to outcoach an established coaching guru like Paterno. It's failure in the making. On the other hand, if A&M is selected, I'll be ready with popcorn in hand because they're going to get dickthumped all the way from the Dome to the Train Station.

The best matchup would be Tech and Penn State. Old school versus Xbox football.
By the way, that SMU - Davis rumor sure is picking up steam.

College Football: Aggies accept bid to Alamo Bowl
A&M will face Penn St. on Dec. 29

Express-News Staff Writer
COLLEGE STATION – Penn State coach Joe Paterno once recalled fond memories of the Nittany Lions’ game at Texas A&M in 1980.
"I’d heard about the ‘12th Guy’ and all of that kind of stuff in the stands,” Paterno said in 1999 of A&M’s 12 th Man tradition. “I was really impressed with the tremendous college environment and atmosphere there.”
Now, for the fourth time in the programs’ storied histories – and for the second time in the Alamodome – the guys from A&M and Penn State will collide on the football field.
A&M (7-5) accepted a bid to the Valero Alamo Bowl on Sunday. The Aggies, led by interim coach Gary Darnell, will face PSU (8-4) at 7 p.m. on Dec. 29.
A&M hired Houston Texans offensive coordinator Mike Sherman on Monday to replace Dennis Franchione, but Sherman is expected to fulfill his duties with the Texans, whose regular season ends a day after the Alamo Bowl.
The Nittany Lions whipped the Aggies 24-0 in 1999 in the teams’ last meeting in the Alamo Bowl. Neither team has played in the Alamo Bowl since.
In the programs’ first meeting in 1979, A&M prevailed 27-14 in State College, Pa. The Nittany Lions returned the favor a year later in College Station, winning 25-9.
In 1999, Nittany Lions linebacker LaVar Arrington dominated the Aggies, earning defensive MVP honors after recording 14 tackles and a sack. He also forced three interceptions with bruising hits on A&M quarterback Randy McCown.
This will mark A&M’s third appearance in the Alamo Bowl. The Aggies defeated Michigan 22-20 in 1995. A year later, the Wolverines won the national title – and A&M finished 6-6.
A&M last played in the Alamodome in a regular-season game against Army last year. A crowd of 64,583 watched the Aggies slip past the Golden Knights 28-24.
Paterno, 80, will coach his 500th game with the Nittany Lions in the Alamo Bowl. He owns a 371-125-3 overall record. He trails Florida State’s Bobby Bowden in all-time victories by two.
PSU closed out its regular season with a 35-31 defeat at Michigan State. A&M closed out its regular season with a 38-30 victory over rival Texas in College Station, in Franchione’s final game as Aggies coach.
A year ago, the Aggies lost 45-10 to California in the Holiday Bowl, and are 1-6 in their last seven bowls.
