The Spurs like to come out asleep in early games. However, the Spurs haven't lost at home and the Blazers haven't won on the road. A nice old fashion blowout would be a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

I'm also concerned about the early start, not something our guys have ever seemed to like.

I don't want to see the sleepwalking we saw in Minny. The win was nice, the fourth quarter execution was nice, but teams like Minny and Portland have no right thinking they can hang with us.

Our road record so far surprises me, but because we're home I expect them to rise.

I'm with timvp. An early Sunday afternoon blowout would be delightful.

Tim Duncan injured Sunday against Blazers
Tim Duncan left Sunday's game at the AT&T Center after it appeared he hurt his knee.

Duncan went down with 7:40 left in the second quarter with the Spurs facing the Portland Trail Blazers. Duncan was near the basket at the Spurs' offensive end. He appeared to get tangled up with a Blazers player as a pass was coming in to him.

Duncan stayed on the ground and grabbed his knee.

The Spurs' Michael Finley got a technical as several players crowded around Duncan.

Duncan was helped from the court by teammates Robert Horry and Francisco Elson.

The way he's holding his leg, it looks like it may be a lower leg sprain or bone issue, as opposed to just his knee. Maybe tibia/fibula, or a tendon in his calf or lower leg.

Well, I've got Blazers broadcast - Bonner and Pryzbilla were caught up with no calls as both were jockeying for position for a rebound. It looked to me that Pryzbilla grabbed the arm Bonner had in Pryzbilla's chest, wrapped him up and around his back to try and clear him, and they had a little scuffle while Manu pulled down the board. Of course, Blazers claimed that Bonner was trying to physically tie up Pryz and how dare the refs not call it.

Pryzbilla was given a Technical after a hard foul to Tony on a drive a good second after the play had already been whistled dead. A few minutes later, he and Bonner were going at it, though didn't see exactly what happened.

Spurs C Duncan exits with knee injury

December 2, 2007
SAN ANTONIO (TICKER) -- San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan left Sunday's matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers with an apparent right knee injury.

The perennial All-Star got tangled up with Portland's James Jones and fell to the floor grabbing his knee in the second quarter.

Duncan was helped off the court by his teammates and his return is questionable.

He grabbed at his ankle with one hand, his knee with the other as he was first down. Then he rolled to his back, knee bent. Rolled back to his side and laced his fingers around his knee. Rolled a couple more times, but kept his hands at his knee, protectively from that point up. Then commercial, and during the commercial, he was helped out.

He's being helped, but he's clearly putting some weight on that leg/knee here.

And with the previous picture - I don't think this is season ending. Probably a sprain, possibly a tendon strain.

Hope Horry's in mental shape to get back in here.

Blazers announcers are not bad at all, but I just laughed when they said the Spurs were battling back without Tim. Um, they play without him some minutes of every game. . .

And damn, Greg Oden looks like he's about 38 years old. Horry looks younger from that camera angle, and we all know Horry hunted mastodon in his youth.

After Ginobili went up for a strong rebound they did make the claim that Manu and Tony weren't really guard-sized....calling Manu 6'7 and a half, and calling Tony 6'4.

I thought that was funny...

Technically yes. James Jones hooked him and spun him on the knee. But there wasn't any intent for injury there. It was just a foul by a player who was beaten for position, not a dirty play.

It's definitely the knee ... no question. The left foot slipped, he started falling sideways, and his weight came down on the right leg as it twisted a bit while falling.

Hope to God it's just a minor sprain or dislocation.

Manu isn't 6'7", but then again, Tony hasn't been 6'2" since he was drafted in 2001 at 19. I've always thought he had grown, since males can until they are 25. He may be 6'4", but that's still "guard sized". :lol

Tim Duncan injured Sunday against Blazers
Tim Duncan left Sunday's game at the AT&T Center after it appeared he hurt his right knee.

The team said he has a right knee contusion and sprained right ankle.

The team released the following statement at the end of halftime:
"All ligaments appear to be stable ... x-rays taken at the AT&T Center were negative ... will undergo an MRI on Monday ... his status will be updated after his MRI."

I realize that, but I just can't help but scoff at the suicide watch mentality when we're up by 20+ without Duncan. I know we're not playing the Mavs or Suns, but the injury doesn't appear to be long term and the team is balling without Timmy. It's like putting two and two together and coming up with five.

They might make the playoffs, but probably not at the top of the Conference. And without the Spurs trademark D. Duncan anchors the D. While it hasn't been anything great in the early going, it is crucial to winning in the playoffs, especially against teams like the Mavs (who already match up well), Utah (clears the boards and a has a great big man or two), the Rockets (maintaining good D and with a really, really, really good big man). Duncan is one of our mismatches against the Suns.

We'd be playing these teams in the first round. Our chances of a repeat without Duncan are about as good as we had defending our first championship without Duncan.

Not to mention those of us who would name Duncan as their personal favorite all time player, like me. . .
