You barely escaped the last two games against clubs quarterbacked by the likes of A.J. Feeley and Kyle Boller... both of which won't come close to ever sniffing Canton after their careers are over. Count your blessings.


Best QB to EVER play the game.

This could very well be true but the Pats success this season is hardly a barometer for handing out "best ever" awards since most teams would not continue to score touchdowns with a three TD lead as the Pats have done against lesser opponents this year. I know the "running up the score" thing has been beaten to death already and it's ultimately the fault of opposing defenses for not stopping the Patriots, but it is quite possible that Tony Romo could also have 41 TDs after 12 games, Peyton Manning as well if he'd had Harrison all year. However, I'm reluctant to say that Brady is the best ever because of how much better he looks with talent at WR. If he was truly the greatest ever, there would have been no dispute last year that they were better than San Diego, and he would have been able to ice the Colts with that 21-3 lead. But he didn't, and his skyrocketing stats this year are 100% due to Welker, Stallworth, and most importantly Randy Moss. The difference between Brady and Manning right now is that Brady has WRs that catch his passes, Manning throws passes so that his WRs can catch them. I think Manning has a definite edge when it comes to putting the ball between the numbers and threading the needle.

Randy Moss definitely has some incredible gifts and catches some balls that look uncatchable, but he is not far and away the best in the league. If you asked me who I want on my team between Moss, Terrell Owens, and a healthy Marvin Harrison, I would be hard pressed to pick one of them without careful deliberation.

Probably true with the LB corps, except their age was exploited last night when McGahee dragged them forward for a first down multiple times. With Colvin done for the year, they were exposed in the Ravens game. We will see how they adapt to his loss and how it pans out for them. As for their D line, they have some good players on the D line but they are currently tied for 7th in the league in sacks.

The stats certainly show that, but the last two games have proven both to be vulnerable. Especially the defense since Willis McGahee chode bloaded the fuck out of your team for three quarters. The Pats achilles heel is going to be their defense down the stretch, because if a team with a good running and passing game can establish a running threat and force the Pats to load the box, the Pats will get burned badly. Currently their defense is ranked 6th in both passing and rushing, and third overall behind the Steelers and Colts. Both teams the Pats could be playing in the playoffs.

I think he was talking about the play where if the timeout hadn't been called the game would had been over. It was 4th down and we had just stopped Brady.

That the Raven coaching staff didn't complain about it after the fact attests to that. I suspect they'll probably change the rule to allow any coach to call time out, so that it matches the practice.

What was funny to me was the reaction by the Raven defense after they realized timeout had been called. I thought they were literally about to run over and throttle Ryan (not that I necessarily blame them). I think that team is dangerously close to an implosion.

I think the Pats are starting to show their age on defense, especially at the LB and SS position. Their key leaders, Harrison, Bruschi, Vrabel... are all older guys and might be starting to slow. I wonder if the pressure of the undefeated streak and all the energy expended trying to show up the spy-gate talkers has run the tank lower than usual for this time of year? Their defense has never been great this year, but it looks worse now than in the 1st half of the season.

You struggled against the redskins (52-7) and an Aaron Rodgers' led team. You're probably playing better now but nothing indicates the outcome would be any different.
The pats struggles are mostly due to the fact that those teams want to be the ONE that knocks them off, like I said earlier, Reid said his objective was to shut down "the pats are the greatest team ever" and the ravens said it was their "superbowl". The pats on the other hand are so much favored (by more than 20pts) that they think they've already won and don't put enough effort (except in the 4th qtr).
That was the indication that our defense can still get it done when it matters.
I can't wait to see the steelers' game because I can't use the excuse that they didn't get up for PIT. We shall wait and see. My guts tell me this game won't be close.
I really hate to speculate on what should happen when in fact we can just wait and see instead of arguing moot points.
If the pats meet the cowboys, we will see if the outcome changes, but until then, you have to admit you got beat and move on.

You might have a point in this. Most of the players of the teams that chased the undefeated record have all said how draining that pressure was and were all relieved when they lost because they felt each game they played was a playoff game. And I'm starting to see the same on the patriots. Each team they face is in playoff mode, and the ravens and eagles all looked like 10-2 teams to me.
Maybe we can have a "good loss" to get over with this insanity of undefeated season and focus on the playofs.

I'm not saying he's a choker, but he still hasn't proven to me he is a reliable playoff performer. He literally played only one really good half of football in the entire playoffs last year. He sucked against the Chiefs. He sucked against Baltimore. He was decent in the SB, but at the same time, he didn't really do anything special. He's definitely the best QB in the NFL, but still hasn't proven himself as an elite playoff performer.

LMAO, let's compare him to Dirk a little bit if you allow me:
he's clutch in the season no doubt, but never when it matters. He and Dirk have won games for their teams in the regular season for sure.
And regarding the AFC championship game, Dirk did the same in beating the spurs, only to choke in the finals like Peyton did but fortunetely for Manning he was lucky to have clutch teamates (unlike NOWIZKI) and the worst QB on the other team. The MVP for the colts was either Addai or Grossman.
I'll wait this year's playoffs to see if he's not a choker anymore.
