Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has been named the NBA's Western Conference Coach of the Month for November – and he’s earned it. With a perfect record at home, Pop’s Spurs are 15-3 overall so far this season, tying the franchise record for best start.

Veteran sportswriter Mike Kahn observes that Coach Popovich has tweaked his team to take advantage of emerging talent. A casual observer may glance at Tim Duncan’s falling statistic this year, and incorrectly think the team is having a down year.

Kahn points out that Duncan's numbers are considerably lower than the norm. He's 41st in scoring at 18.6, 20th in rebounding (9.3) and 18th in blocks (1.82) ... so it would be natural to think the Spurs are down, both in the standings and statistically.

“What's odd is they are giving up more points per game than any time since Duncan was the first overall pick of the 1997 draft. But there is an obvious reason. While Duncan continues to be the same comfortably diverse dominant player at a different level, coach Gregg Popovich has opened up the team's style to the game of today,” writes Kahn.

Let's see if the "coach of the month" can take the Spurs over the hump during December without Timmeeyyy!!

It wouldn't surprise me to see Pop preform well w/o Tim.
I remember in 2005, when Tim was out, Pop started running the motion offense. That proved to be pretty effective.

Yeah, we need Tim for the playoffs, but now would be an excellent time for Pop to be experimenting with different lineups and plays.

Tim's probably gonna be back this weekend. Settle down.

I'm not really concerned about the severity of Tim's injury.

I think it's just a good opportunity for Tim to get extra rest, and for the team to undertake some new concepts that might be benefit them during May and June.

I haven't looked at our schuedle for next week, but if it's light, I would let Tim sit on the bench with a suit (Or jeans, which ever he prefers)

And if he does, you won't be around any more as I took your bet.

Does Tim always have something interesting going on each year of his career?
