Put Gervin at SF...and Ginobli at SG. (no offense Sean)

Robinson and Duncan big enough to carry the load of Gervin at SF.

Good D (duncan, robinson, ginobli, parker)
Great O (everyone!)

DUNCAN
ROBINSON
GERVIN
GINOBLI
PARKER

Now that's anyone's dream team.

Before Snake's injury that is. He had a better shot and could defend much better. Many of you didn't see him but I did and there is no way I would pick Parker over a pre-'76 Silas - he injured his leg in San Marcos during a pre-season game against the KC Kings. The dude who fell on his knee was Bill Robinzine. Funny how you remmeber those things. If he stays healthy??? But absolutely no contest IMO. He could score on anyone and had a 42" vertical jump off the dribble so we'll talking about lateral novement and not a straight forward type you would see on a dunk. Dude was unreal!

I could switch Gevin for Ginobli though and wouldn't lose any sleep. Just like Manu's hustle, energy and D over Iceman's. Though in a scoring battle Ice would kill Manu IMO. We have plenty of O with the others and Ice wasn't known for his D at all.

I think I would start Bowen and Elliott and then Have Gervin and Ginobili come off of the Bench...

You really need Bowen for D against the starting 1-4 of the opposing team, and Parker driving and kicking works out well with Sean and Bruce's game.

I think the punch of an unselfish slasher and a shoot first mentality like Gervin would work best in the second team...

I'm not going to get into who is better... but I think that would be the best chemistry...

You're on crack if Elliott makes the team before Manu or Ice...I don't care if you saw George Mikan play...you're still on crack.

And Ice may not have been known for his d...nonthless he averaged well over a steal per game and was the all time leader in blocks by a 2 guard at the time of his retirement...

His d isn't that bad.

If I had to choose between Gervin and Manu to be on my TEAM... I would pick Manu...

Dude is just a cold blooded killer... Gervin may have been able to put up more points faster...

But Manu has that Jordanesque quality about him that just wills his team to win in the last 4 minutes of a game.

There aren't very many people in NBA history, much less Spurs history that have that quality.

whottt
12-11-2007, 08:50 PM
Dudes...Gervin is like the third most dominant scorer in NBA history...that's not just...he was pretty good at scoring...that's...he's after Wilt and Jordan...and no one else.

Manu scoring back to back 37 is a big deal?

Ice once averaged 33 point per game for a season...was a great rebounder...the dude averaged over a steal and block per game for 4 or 5 years in a row, that's a 2 guard doing that...he'd get triple teamed every game. He shot over 50% for his career.

I just don't think you guys really understand what you are saying when you leave him off the team...it's like the LakerFans leaving Magic Johnson off the all time Laker Team. A grave error.

33ppg...for a season. You think about that for a second.....

Sec24Row7

Tell you what....you let me know when Manu shoots over 50% for a season averaging 15 PPG with Tim Duncan on his team...

Much less doing it over his career averaging 26 PPG without Tim Duncan.

Ice shot over 50% for his career...do you understand what that means?

I'm not talking about manu's scoring... I'm talking about his will to win.

Would you take AI over manu?

Agreed. I love Sean, and he'll always be one of my favorite Spurs, but he was NOT a big game player. I'm not even sure if he sits on the bench on my all Spurs team.

And I also agree about Gervin. I never got to see him play, but his stats alone are staggering. EDIT: I still might take Manu over Gervin though.

Missing out one of the 50 greatest players ever from your starting lineup is criminal.

PG: Parker (Based on his play now, championships and potential to get better) with Silas as a backup

SG: Manu with Bruce as a backup (He usually guards this position anyway, and this way Sean plays his natural position)

SF: Ice (Absolute no brainer - theres a reason hes so revered) with Sean as Backup

PF: Timmy

Moronic......Spurs.........Homer........forum.

How old are you guys? Did you ever even watch the Bulls prior to this decade?

Charles Oakley is on the Bulls All-Time team?

He must have made quite an impression during the 16 games he started as a Bull over three seasons:

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/charles_oakley/career_stats.html

I didn't even know he ever was a Bull, but I can see why he deserves the spot over Horace Grant or Artis Gilmore.

Ron Harper is the second greatest guard to ever wear a Bulls uniform?

Are you kidding me?

Reggie Theus anyone? Jerry Sloan?

btw - ESPN recently did an "All-time" bracket to see who had the greatest "All-Time" team....the Bulls lost only to the Lakers:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/features/nbaLineup

Strangely enough, ESPN's version of the Bull's all time greatest roster included ten players, none of which were Ron Harper or Charles Oakley.

It's an indefensible position, to me, to argue that Gervin wouldn't be the no-brainer choice to play one of the wing positions on that team. You can argue about whether the other wing should be Manu or Elliott or perhaps Kenon or Bowen, but there's no doubt that one of those spots goes to Ice.

Worst Spurs lineup possible:

Alfredrick Hughes-G

Sylvester Norris-C
Wiley Peck-F

I need another guard. Not Beno, I like him! Also, Griffin wasn't too bad, so who should be at forward instead of Griffin? I was just thinking off the top of my head.

I think the Lakers

Magic Guard
SHaq Center
Malone: Forward
Kobe: Guard
Kareem: power forward

talking about a starting 5 and off the bench they could bring in Jerry West,James Worthy, Cooper, Wilt; and a plethora of other good players

This got me thinking a bit about it. First...holy shit. Can you imagine having Wilt Chamberlain come off the bench?

Second, Malone only played one season as a Laker. He played his prime in Utah (please tell me there are no arguments here). So, if we're including any player who has ever played for the Spurs regardless of who they played their best for....

Moses Malone anyone?

I'm also bringing Terry Cummings, Willie Anderson, Dennis Rodman, Kevin Willis, Dominique Wilkens, Glenn Robinson, Michael Finley (circa '97-'02) and probably Jerome Kersey and Terry Porter (together, of course) in off the bench...if the Lakers get Karl Malone, I want all these guys in their prime as well.

Oh, and just for shits 'n giggles, I'm throwing Mike D'Antoni under the bus as the worst Spur of all time. The guy played a total of nine minutes for the team in 1976. Even Kevin Duckworth was better than that.

Look, I LOVE the Iceman. I grew up watching him. He was one of greatest scorers ever, and decent on defense. But I choose Ginobili over Ice because Manu is the more complete player. He can score, pass, steal, take charges...and he plays with a ferocity and savage will to win that I never saw in Gervin. His defense gives him the edge for me.

With Parker, Kenon, Duncan and Robinson on my starting 5, I'm not needing a scoring machine. I already have PLENTY of offense.

That being said, it is helluva hard choice. Having Ice start and Manu come off the bench would be great too.
