SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have recalled Darius Washington from the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League.

Washington was signed by the Spurs on October 1. He appeared in 15 games with the Silver and Black, averaging 2.8 points and 1.1 rebounds while shooting .485 from the field, prior to his assignment to the Toros on November 29.

Washington started all four games he appeared in with the Toros, averaging a D-League best 28.2 points, 8.5 rebounds (10th), 6.2 assists (tied for fifth) and 2.0 steals (tied for eighth) in 38.5 minutes of action. The 6-2 guard recorded his first professional triple-double when he finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists vs. Tulsa on December 8.

Washington will join the Spurs tonight for their game at the Los Angeles Lakers.

:hungry:

Start him and play him big minutes. Seriously. The Spurs need his scoring and rebounding. If Pop play Jacque Vaughn big minutes that is basically just conceding defeat.

Too late. He could have been the Beno killer.

If Tony is out today, then I think he should start alongside Manu. Manu will be there to back him up if he makes any mistakes.

Cool. I'm really excited to see him after what he's been doing with the Toro's.
(Thanks ChumpDumper for keeping the site updated on the Toro's.)

So I guess Tony won't play tonight.
By looking at Spurs and Toros schedule, Washington will only miss a couple of Toros games.

I'm not overly concerned about the Toros. Cheyne Gadson was looking more comfortable running the team Tuesday and hopefully Justin Bowen will be back next week at the latest. Keith Langford will probably have a shot to reclaim the D-League scoring leadership from Darius. Ultimately the Spurs matter the most.

What a great fvcking day for D-Wash. Not only do you get called up, but you get flown out to LA to do it. That has got to kick the crap outta whatever he would have been doing.

Gosh i hope he shows up for you guys :lol Anything less than a 20/10 performance sounds like it will disappoint some of you :lol

It is fun hyping up scrubs though. I thought Von Wafer was going to be the next big thing after score 42 in summer league and scoring 21ppg in the D league last season, but Karl has barely even let him see the court :lol

Wafer is a one-dimensional player. Darius might have two or three.

Part of me thinks he'll get big minutes....

but that's the part that thinks the Spurs will be out of this game early and guys like Washington and Udoka will get a ton of garbage minutes.

I hope that's not the case....

It is fun hyping up scrubs though.

It should be pointed out that a scrub for the Spurs would likely be a starter on the Nuggets team.
