I've been doing some research around town and the net and have been looking for a good place to spend New Years Eve in Texas. Basically I'm in SA but don't mind travelling to Austin, Houston or Dallas. The ideal situation is a $70 or less per person cost including an open bar somewhere. Here are a couple of things I've dug up if anyone is interested. Since this kind of stuff is hard to find, I'd appreciate if anyone else who knows of any good party locales (especially the open bar type) could contribute to this thread.

We've got Euphoria 2005 in Dallas.

Not a full night open bar but still interesting.

Forbidden City 2005 in Houston.

Of course, the open bar is only with the $150 per person VIP admission.

There is the Clubmonkey BLT in Houston.

This was $49 two weeks ago but somewhere in between they boosted it to $69. They got a decent deal going for stays at the Four Seasons.

Austin has this deal but my friends are reluctant to do the ballroom thing.

Dallas has another great option at $73 per couple at Liquid (Lower Greenville)

In the past, I've gotten fortunate enough to find good deals including an impromptu (involving great luck and a naive doorman) VIP party (open bar) at Element in Austin ($35), the BIG Party in Dallas at the Gypsy Tea Room (VIP at $100) and a super cheap and surprisingly good NYE at the Cadillac Bar ($30 for an open bar ticket). This year, the well is looking kinda dry. Any assistance in finding a suitable venue would be appreciated and if there is any way I can help in your planning, I'd be happy to do so. Thanks.

Are they gonna have maroon beer Jim??? And are you allowed to build a bonfire in the hotel lobby?

Actually it is in the parking lot, and the bonfire will be made up of any cars that have Texas Longhorn bumper stickers on them.

Check with the Hyatt Hill Country...I have been there a couple of times for New Years bashes and they were very nice...I assume they still do them..it might be a little more upscale than you want because it is table seating, full multi-course meals plus bar...very elegant...I honestly don't remember how much it cost...I didn't see anything about it on their website but it is worth a call if it sounds interresting...
