Dunns Bros. Coffee is now closed. I was just there on Wednesday and went there again tonight and they had signs up.

It was a bad location and with 5 Starbucks in a 5 mile radius, I don't see how it could have survived.

So I went to Starbucks instead...

No, he only posts the good stuff happening. He doesn't want to admit businesses in San Antonio are capable of failure.

San Antonio:

Starbucks really needs to add a shot of Baileys in Coffee to its menu.

Dunn Brothers has that Raw Sewage taste that I look for in my coffee which Starbucks has failed to provide.

But that's too bad about Dunn Bros. I kept meaning to go try it out, but never made it. My son's friend worked there, so that's kind of a shame for her, but she's a cute college girl who will find something else. You would think with all the Bandera traffic that they might have had a fighting chance.

Well, I like "Seattle’s Best" better than other places. I normally get a large Mexican Mocha with Caramel added, and have it as a four shot. I have to tone it down to a three shot with Seattle Best, because they make some kick ass coffee!

Starbucks has been buying competition here. They are trying to become a monopoly! I avoid them because of the anticompetitive nature.

Charbucks just isn't that good unless you are into those thousand calorie sundaes that you try to pass off as coffee in your diet.

You want some real coffee, go to Whataburger or Dunkin' Donuts if you've got one close.

Starbucks makes a good cup of joe. I don't really give a shit about subsidizing mom and pop's coffee house so whatever.

It's just in a weird place for a strip mall. Most of the major shopping is over at 1604/Bandera where you can find 4 Starbucks (including the one in Helotes). I just thought it was an odd location to be opening their first store in SA ever there. They should have opened a store closer to 410 since there aren't really in coffee shops down that way.

I ended up at the SB on Guilbeau. I was telling the girl they closed and she said that every morning, a Dunns employee would come in wearing her uniform and buy Starbucks :lol

I thought they were good.

People know that I drink the Joe, so I usually get a SB gift card or three during the holidays, but other than that, I make mine at home. Yes, I actually use my cappuccino machine. I priced it out a few years ago, and I think it was like 45-50 cents per Grande sized 2-3 shot drink. It's probably more now, with dairy going up, but I also pay less for coffee, $7.99 for 2.5 lbs of really good Costa Rican French roast arabica whole bean at Costco.

Have some 18 year old girls wearing short shorts serving the Joe and they would still be in business.

The E.S.E pods are great because there isn't any cleaning up the coffee it's easy and neat.

Illy is highly addictive :)

There's actually one of those drive-thru ice houses like that near SAC.

Seriously try this http://www.illyusa.com/AB1666000/showprod.cfm?ObjectGroup_ID=266 in it. Lavazza is pretty good but I guarantee you'll like my suggestion.

No, not really.

It's cafe corretto; Italian espresso that is modified by adding grappa, an Italian liqueur or brandy. This results in a coffee beverage that provides a distinctive flavor sweetened by the addition of the alcohol.

Coffee corrected, indeed.

I'm told Kansas City, Mo has run off Chardyucks twice when 'Yucks tried pulling their invasion crap. Said KC has a ton of Mom n Pop owned shops that legitimately make great coffee, roast the beans on site etc. They don't take kindly to the corporate Hitler Chardyucks types. When Yucks tried pulling their bullshit the KC people told me two people a day went there. Packed up their bags and slithered off to some other town.

The bold roast at Krispy Kreme on Austin Highway (before being demolished for a desparately needed bank branch) was excellent flavor and not too water-y, for an American coffee.

Jim's and Bill Miller coffee has a good flavor but it's classic American brown water, more like hot tea than coffee.

The tricked up "coffee" at Starbuck's makes me laugh. Good coffee stands on its own without all the junky additives that "connaisseurs" think they need.

Another good laugh is when I ask Starbuck's for "small black coffee". Typifies the Starbuck's bullshit when the staff has to figure out what a "smal black coffee" is. :lol

Everyone on campus was so thrilled when they added two Starbucks. However, I find that the little coffee stand that is open year-round (the most popular and convenient SB is only open when classes are in full session, sucks for employees) makes a mocha with a shot of hazelnut and soy milk just the same as Starbucks and for less. And they are never busy when I go. Also make great kolaches.

Go figure.

I don't know the exact details. Could be a managment issue or a problem with the store physically. I'm sure more information will be made available sooner than later.
