You Suns fans are in for another depressing playoff bounce. Your defense is horrendous. Enjoy your fools gold tonight. You will get trounced when the real season starts.

they're a quality team, no reason to say they suck after they just won in the spurs building.

but championship contender? i would question any suns fan who builds up too much confidence based on this game. they had a lot of things go their way both before and during the ball game.

Yeah, the Suns actually have the same record they had last year after 25 games--and they haven't been playing well.

K-State Spur

It really doesn't matter how they play right now it matter how they are playing in May.

Right now Dallas and the Suns look average..but if they get going by the end of the year then they will be a tough competition.

Do you remember how bad we looked at the begining of the season last year? And the Suns have a better record than we did at this point last year.

but that assumes that other teams are capable of keeping it in a low gear and then peaking in the playoffs.

We don't really know that to be the case with any team other than the Spurs.

while avery is making a clear effort to do that with the Mavs (at the expense of now), with the Suns:

Nash & Marion are playing about the same minutes as always, Hill has more minutes than he has played in a full season since 2000, and Stoudemire's minutes are only slightly down. In addition, there doesn't appear to be any effort by that staff to lengthen their bench.

I see no evidence that D'Antoni is rationing for the playoffs. When the Suns struggle, the only explanation is because they are playing poorly.

Some of you Spurs fans are pretty defensive over this loss. It's December--the teams you saw play tonight are not going to be the same teams you see in April and beyond.

It was a great game to watch. I couldn't believe how close it was throughout the 2nd half. The Suns would stretch the lead to 7, and then the Spurs would come right back. In the 4th quarter, they traded the lead over and over and over. I love games like that. It was a great fight.

Well that first home loss had to come eventually. Tonight's game was definately one of those roller-coaster games that has you on the edge of your seat and gotta give props to the Suns, they did what they had to do to win the game. We had our oppurtunitis to win the game and didn't get it done. shit happens

I'll tell you what fools gold is , its that third championship ring yall have, instead of Tim Duncan gettin that MVP it should've gone to Rasheed Wallace dumb ass for giving Horry that open three to save the Spurs. And according to history San Antonio is not gonna have that long of a post season either so maybe they can go fishing together.

I don't think either team played particularly well tonight. Neither team played good D, both teams were sloppy on offense. One team got dominated on the boards, while the other team couldn't execute in crunch time.

There's not a whole lot I took away from this game other than:

1. Grant Hill is a great fit for the Suns.
2. Tim Duncan is as unstoppable as ever.
3. Barbosa takes far too many shots.

The next matchup will be a slightly better indication of things to come, as always.

huh? even if the spurs had lost game 5, games 6 & 7 were in san antonio. spurs would still have a chance to win both of those games. history? oh, i get it. you're one of those "its an even-numbered year so the spurs won't win" believers. yeah, right. very credible theory you got there. must have wasted millions of brain cells coming up with that one.

and nobody around spursdom is panicking over a lost game in december. we're just grumpy because we lost against the suns. those you see flipping over it are trolls who have nothing better to do than to issue doomsday prophecies and sow discontent among the ranks.

we did get to see how the spurs and the suns faired against each other. and both teams saw positives and negatives that they can learn from and take with them to the playoffs if ever they meet again. so chill out.

Parker doesn't shoot at 70% (vaughn) or even 60% (Duncan).

The Spurs point total would have been even less with Parker and his erratic jumper. Plus he's turnover prone...Suns would have had more possessions.

I said it before and I'll say it again: You can have Parker.

The guys who kill the Suns (Duncan, Ginobili and Bowen) were all there last night.

At best, Parker hits his open shots. Vaughn did that last night. Not much more Parker gives you.

I dont know if you just dont get it, or you just choose to ignore it...

anyone with half a brain knows what parker brings to the spurs, and it doesnt have anything to do with his "erratic jumper"

Vaughn's production last night >>>>>> Parker.

If Vaughn had stunk it up, you might have a case that Parker might have made a difference.

But you can't expect Parker to play as well as Vaughn did last night. Show me a game where Parker hit 70% of his shots against the Suns last year and I'll shut up.

You gonna take away some of Duncan's shots last night so Parker can shoot his notorious J? :lol

stupid. parker puts pressure on the defense with his drives to the basket which creates fouls (how many FT did vaugh attempted?). those drives causes the defense to collapse on him openning spot up shooters around the perimeter. and with duncan down low, a defender having to either help out or be punished with a duncan dunk.

just plain stupid.

I guess im just completely lost, but when did tony parker all of the sudden become a jump shooter anyway? Since when did we rely on him for his mid range or long range game? im just wondering, because i may have been watching a different team for the past few years.

Any Sun fans who think Parker wouldn't make a difference is not that smart. Its not just about the scoring, but he is the teams point guard. They missed him, and Nash was lucky he didn't have to chase TP all around. Also Suns have no inside presence. Tim Duncan was torchin the Suns. Tony Parker was watching the game and hopefully took note that he can get in the lane and use his teardrop with no real threat.

Vaughn is no Parker. Duncan had to carry the load becuase the 3pts werent falling and TP didn't play. TP shoots at least close to 20 times. Vaughn only attempted 10. That is one big difference. Granted Vaughn shot well last night but then they were giving him wide, wide open looks almost daring him to shoot it becuase his cover was hovering around Duncan afraid to let TD have another one-on-one against Amare. There were probably another 3 or 4 times that Vaughn could have shot with no one even close to him but he deferred due to lack of confidence or whatever.....TP would have probably driven in or taken the jumper rather than force-feeding TD who was dominant tonight but faded in the end a bit when his teammates couldn't get the ball into him with skinner flipping around him and had played too much by then.

I started this thread because I saw the Spurs playing well but without good ball distribution. Tim looked like he was doing anything he wanted even though he was at about 80 %.

The Suns defense was absolutely terrible and they left us wide open shots that we didn't make. Put Tony back in the line up to pick up the scoring and Phoenix is going to be toast.

Grant Hill played well but he's not going to be enough. Phoenix is a pretender. I still think Marion may be moved. They aren't even as good as they were last year. Last year they actually had periods of playing good defense. Unless they get it back, they won't even make the conference finals.

a. Yea, Hill's addition was a great move. I love him already.
b. Barbosa has been pretty bad this year for the most part, and is a black hole (doesn't pass)
c. Amare is ignored now, he doesn't get the touches he used to, why? No clue, has me mind boggled how Raja and Marion REFUSE to feed Amare, but instead would rather jack up a J with their horrific FG%'s.
