Anyone else feel like since the Spurs are the champs the NBA should have gone with Spurs and Suns on Christmas day?? Yes i know the Spurs do not get the big ratings but the Suns get good ratings and there is so much heat going right now between those 2 teams, that game i'm sure would have done well. That is really the rivalry right now in the NBA. I mean Suns and Lakers, give me a break the better game is Spurs and Suns.

Ratings rule on Christmas.

And if I remember correctly, in '05 the team was really not pleased about playing on Christmas.
I need to double check but I think they were on the road, which made it even worse.

So many of them have young children now, it's nice that they're home for the holiday.

Yeah it was Spurs and Pistons in Detroit that year. I think Spurs and Suns would do well on Christmas day though. I mean does anyone really care about the Lakers anymore, Kobe is not that popular. To me the only luster the Christmas games the Lakers had was when it was Heat/Lakers, Shaq and Kobe. Lakers are going nowhere fast as a team.

It would be nice to see them play on Christmas Day, but I'm glad they get to stay home and enjoy the holidays with their family

Pfft who cares? I think its only fitting because they are the defending champs they get Christmas day off.

I'm actually kind of glad that I'm not going to a game on Christmas Day.

And, to invoke the cliche, I'd rather be going to games in June than one on 12/25.

I agree.
It was like a punishment in '05. I remember some reporter asking Duncan if he liked playing on Christmas, I believe Duncan's exact words were "No, I hate it."

Is he that popular anymore?? You tell me all i hear is people trashing Kobe these days, over his pissing and moaning about the Laker organization. More people seem to think he is a DICK than a great player. Do we even know for sure who is and who is not popular?? I thought King James was the golden BOY of the NBA and that did nothing for finals ratings.

:lol And on top of that we weren't even the marquee match up! It was I think...Lakers vs. Heat???

And I remember Pop making a comment in jest like, "what are we the jv game?". Or something like that? Anyways like you said a lot of the team and personnel have newborns or young children. They're on the road a lot as it is already.

People appreciate a good villain as much as a hero.

:lmao
I remebered Duncan's quote, but forgot about Pop.
I think he may have said it was an honor to be the jv game.
I love his sense of humor.

I don't know how they travel like they do and still stay sane and involved in their kids lives.
I know they get plenty of money for the travel they do, but it's got to be draining.
Physically and emotionally.

Some appreciate the villian more.

True but i am not sure Kobe is in that, "I have to watch him to BOO him" category, anymore. I think he had that going for himself when people thought he had Shaq tossed off the Lakers.

I think sometimes we forget that the Spurs are human and have families just like the rest of us. I'm glad they don't play on Christmas so they can spend the day with their families, and i'm pretty sure no nba player likes to play on christmas especially the road team.
