Speedy Claxton, who signed a four-year deal worth $25 million with the Atlanta Hawks in July 2006 and is facing microfracture surgery, will miss the rest of the season due to an injury to his left knee according to a published report.

Claxton is "contemplating his next step" and hasn't made a decision about whether or not he will have the surgery that could help extend his career, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The injury could mean he's played his last game in the NBA. ...

They're falling like flies this season...
It seems like there's been more serious injuries than usual.

"whipes brow"

Thank god the Spurs didn't get caught up in that bidding war, like some of the Holt Haters wanted.

Great player when healthy. Sadly - he's rarely been healthy.

The last good year Claxton had was in New Orleans, in Chris Paul's rookie year. That season earned him that huge contract for sure. Hell, he played 71 games, career high for him. He put up 12.3 ppg, 4.8 apg, 2.7 rpg, and 1.5 spg. His steals were his calling card I guess, (that season) he got more of them than Ford, Allen, A. Miller, Ginobili, Kirilenko, J. Johnson, Hinrich, Parker, and number of other legitimate players. Hawks must have really thought they were getting a starting PG paying him that much money. For their sake, I hope Acie Law works out. Then again, they did pass up on Deron Williams, Chris Paul, and Raymond Felton in 2005 - all three of them picked immediately after Marvin Williams. Then the next year they pass up Brandon Roy for Shelden Williams. How many forwards do they need???

That's too bad.

Get well soon, Speedy. :)
