Without Manu, can the Spurs keep it up?

:hat

Zmaj
12-30-2004, 10:32 PM
Of course they can, they're experienced enough. And Portland isn't the most formidable foe out there either...

Portland must be patient or the Spurs will overwhelm them.

Parker inside, then outside for 3, then inside off Tim's screen. The Spurs are slicing them up, thusfar. 17-2 with 4:09 remaining in the 1st.

Crap pop was yelling at Brown again. Anyone remember what happened last time Pop yelled at Brown on TNT

Solid D
12-30-2004, 11:09 PM
:lol Devin's in Pop's doghouse for not watching the shot clock and passing up a shot. At least I think that's why he's mad at Dev.

Spurs going for five straight games against the Blazers without ever trailing.

Malik Rose is on fire tonight.

I don't know where we'd be without him, probably up 20.

Solid D
12-30-2004, 11:18 PM
Finally, Devin makes a shot but it's too late. Portland has momentum in their favor.

Rasho is really playing dominant on the offensive glass and gets the Spurs second chance points to close out the quarter.

Nice start to start the 2nd. Udrih and Duncan trap Stoudamire and Devin intercepts for the slam. Devin on the bomb...2 dunks in a row.

Beno is doing an awesome job of running the team.

Solid D
12-30-2004, 11:38 PM
Now Pop has TP and Beno in the same backcourt with Rasho, Barry and Horry.

Experiment2100
12-30-2004, 11:38 PM
Very interesting, right now both teams have 3 guards on the floor.

Solid D
12-30-2004, 11:38 PM
Horry with a volleyball spike block into the bench. :elephant

Solid D
12-30-2004, 11:39 PM
Beno's running the point and feeds 2-guard Tony Parker for the jumper curling off the screen.

Solid D
12-30-2004, 11:42 PM
49-29. The passing is exquisite tonight. Horry, Beno, Barry...all making terrific feeds. The ball is just whipping around, reversals, skip passes, nice movement without the ball.

Solid D
12-30-2004, 11:43 PM
When the Spurs work both sides of the floor and throw skip passes over the top, the Blazers are having a tough time rotating fast enough.

Now Rasho and Timmy in together with Bowen at the 3 and Parker and Beno in the backcourt. Nice extra pass from Rasho to Timmy for the and-1. 52-30.

Solid D
12-30-2004, 11:47 PM
Devin replaces Beno. Parker slices the Defense for a layup in traffic.

Then Parker with a 360 degree slice to the basket again for 2 more. :elephant

Barry goes in for the monster dunk and Derek Anderson sticks his hand in Brent's chest (no call) and Brent misses the dunk. Terrific passing, the Spurs are just having trouble knocking down the shots.

Solid D
12-31-2004, 12:39 AM
It's a shame Bruce lost track of Darius on that 3 at the buzzer. The Spurs are doing fairly well in the zone offense, particularly Horry feeding the movement from the FT line.

Solid D
12-31-2004, 12:40 AM
Beno running the point to start the 4th with Tim, Horry, Bowen, Brown.
Stoudamire and Van Exel now in there together.

Solid D

Bowen for three, yes!

Bowen for three, again, yess!! Plus an off the ball foul.

Solid D
12-31-2004, 12:52 AM
Devin makes 2 consecutive steals leading to fastbreak buckets by Bowen and Horry. Spurs lead by 26. TNT announcer Doug Collins issues statement: "I don't know if Portland could beat San Antonio tonight if they were allowed to play 6 on 5."

Solid D

Massenburg on a feed following a dribble penetration from Beno, swish. Massenburg on a baseline turnaround jumper, good.

Beno from the arc for 3, swish!!! 102-72. Beno is fantastic tonight. Wilks and Beno in the backcourt in junk-time, along with Devin, Rose, and T-Mass.

Solid D

Massenburg takes it strong to the hole against Przbylla and draws the fouls. 2 Fts.

Wilks running the point, Nice feed under the arms of defenders by Wilks to T-Mass for the hook shot!

Massenburg is padding his stats and earning them in the process.

This is a fun team to watch. They run when they can and even the 11th and 12th men playing their roles well. 106-76 with 2:21 to play.

Solid D
12-31-2004, 01:06 AM
Massenburg passes back behind him to Udrih for the 22 footer, swish. Very nifty pass that created a natural screen.

Massenburg from outside - swish. 4-4 tonight.

Solid D
12-31-2004, 01:07 AM
Rose in rhythm from the baseline early offense, swish. 112-80.

Udrih with a nifty feed behind the defenders to Rose again from the baseline, same distance, swish! 114-80. And that's it. Parker being interviewed by TNT's Cheryl Miller.

Keeep it up and give us more. Wonderful stuff for those of us who can't watch. I really appreciate it because reading the stats after the game just doens't give the full story or impact of how each player is helping (or detracting) from the team.
