Both are very good players and have their place on the team. I think the only difference I notice is that Brent isn't ultra agressive like Manu is so he needs time to show how good of a player he is, Manu can come out and do something special very quickly....

It was only a matter of time before someone said it. You know Gino is sitting on the bench having flashbacks and praying he's in the starting line up when he comes back tomorrow night. And I really hope he's back tomorrow night.

If Sequ was playing and had Darius Miles defending him, like Barry does, Sequ would only need to make his layups to have similar success.

We should trade Manu and Rasho for a big man.

And Exstatic needs to get a Psyche test.

How about Joe Przbylla? He's a big man and he has some blood-flow.

Manu is our play maker. He plays the game with passion and without fear. plus, he is extremely clever on the court.

Barry knows the game and is also a great passer and reliable shooter. we have a winning combination no matter who is out on the court.

does any one know why manu is not playing tonight?

He hurt his neck when he was thrown down in the last game, he's just resting and will hopefully be back for tomorrow's game.

He had a sore neck from the fall he took after being run over by Amare and falling on Nash's (??? I believe) knee.

Manu is being traded for Jon Barry.

Barry came to San Antonio to play alongside Duncan, Parker and Ginobili...

In fact while still in a Sonics uniform he praised Manu's style of play saying he would LOVE to play with him...

So to answer the question....let's not..... it is irrelevant in Pop's defensive oriented system.

I was thinking the same thing and he was probably wondering why the bench players that usually come in for him have such a hard time starting off the bench. I hope he'll be back tommorow but the way we played without him I'd rather not risk him getting injured more.

No, hegamboa, that's not when it happened.

It happened when Manu went in for a rebound along the baseline and met Steven Hunter. Steven and Manu both went for the ball but when their bodies collided, Manu's feet went out from under him and then Steven brought the ball down in a hard motion and knocked Manu's arm down in the process, throwing Manu to the floor flat on his back. He hit very hard and I'm surprised it didn't knock the breath out of him or knock him out. His head didn't seem to hit, so Manu must have really tightened his neck up when he started to hit the floor. That's how he strained his neck muscles and I'm sure he's sore all over.

Barry is a better NBA player than Manu is. He doesn't have to pad stats to overshadow his stupid passes.

barry has a slight edge in passing and shooting the ball.
manu is like barry but more bold and agressive which is what we often need to penatrate and attack a strong defense.

you could say manu is barry but with extra "hot sauce!"

manu does tend to make one or two bad passes during a game is seems...but more often than not especially when it really counts he makes good decisions with the ball to help the team win.

whether its a pass, a steal, a hussle play, a rebound... you name it...there are plenty of highlights to prove his smart play on the court.

until Barry plays defense as well as Manu does then it is Manu

if you think different stop smoking the crack...defense wins championships
and Barry still needs to learn how to play at both ends of the court like Manu

What the hell kind of shit thread is this?? Trying to change the lineup over one game against the lowly(sorry tlong)Blazers? Yo, Did Rasho bang on someone's edge up? Ouch! You know about Manu and Bones.. When courted by S.A., Brent Barry wasnt really playing for Manu's spot in the first place.. He needs to adapt to his role. Period. Great night collectively from the team; looked solid throughout!

Damn, that was COLD.

However, this is over-stated.

Manu brings much more than Barry, but he also has more downside when he messes up.

Straight up, Manu's worst D is probably better than Barry's best. That alone should say something about their value.
