Boston is 25-3, very impressive, but admittedly this is only Boston's third game against a high-quality opponent (the first being Lakers, W 107-94, the second being the Pistons, L 87-85). The rest of their schedule has been cupcake teams. And the Lakers are better now than a month ago..

Thank you NBA TV for finally showing a non-shit match up.

I predict Boston 99-90.

the lakers are going to be PUMPED for this game. i expect ray allen and PP to get off though, because kobe can only guard one of them, and when he does both seem to always play well against him anyway. but i still expect it to be a tight game because of kobe, the raw power of bynum, and the fact LA is at home.

game of the year so far.... cant wait to see it :downspin: :hungry:

A few of us have known and have had to keep tight lipped about it, but TheLakersNation.com has been granted permission to confirm the Los Angeles Lakers will indeed wear the 80’s throwback jerseys with the shorts.

Why is that ass Brian Shaw wearing sunglasses inside the arena?
Coach Shaw had a problem with his eyes and had some kind of procedure, he has to wear the shades because too much light will hurt his eyes.

edit:
Here's what it said in the LA Times -

Brian Shaw isn't trying to be cooler than cool by wearing sunglasses on the Lakers' bench.

The assistant coach is still sensitive to light after undergoing surgery to repair a blood vessel near the retina in his left eye.

"I've been called it all -- Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Kool Moe Dee," Shaw said. "Everyone says, 'Shaw, you're inside, you can take your shades off now.'

"In arenas, I have to wear those sunglasses because it's so bright. When I put the sunglasses on, it feels normal. They say it's going to be like that for a while. I just have to grin and bear it."

I think the arrogance from this Celtics team is laughable. You have to win something before you have any authority to talk smack.

Anything can happen in the playoffs, as evidenced by the Warriors destruction of the 1st place Mavs last season. I'll take a battle-tested Spurs team over the Celtics any day of the week in the playoffs. There may be a lot of veterans on the Celtics, but there are no winners. Your big 3 has a grand total of 0 rings. Doc Rivers has 0 rings. In fact, the Big Ticket has made it out of the 1st round of the playoffs only once in his entire career. Allen and Pierce have had similar disappointed playoff records.

And finally, how the hell can you even be proud of a team that was literally handed to you overnight? You basically went from the worst team in the NBA to one of the best through an ex-Celtic GM. Since when have two franchise players been traded to the same team in one offseason? It's pretty ridiculous when you think about it. And if the Celtics don't win any rings this will all have been a complete failure for your franchise. You have NO young developing talent and will be cellar dwellers for the next decade when the big 3 are done.

If i didn't know any better i would say you were jealous of what they have. Isn't the point to win now and see what happens later? celtics do actually have some good young talent in Rondo, Perkins, Davis for example. Yeah when KG, Allen and Pierce are gone things will be different but the Spurs will suck for a while too as lets face it the spurs don't have any real young talent either apart from parker.

the aim is to win now and both the spurs and celtics are built to win now not later....

i think its pretty unfair the call the members of the big 3 "losers".

when has any of them been on a team where they were supposed to win it all ? i mean seriously.... the only time any of them was on a team that was even close to good enough to win it all is KG's team with cassell and sprewell, and cassell was injured during that WCF series.

im surprised there are so many still doubting this team though. people are in complete denial if they think the celtics arent in the same class as the top teams in the west..... IMO they are already BETTER than the mavs and suns. neither of them has defense as good as the celtics.

He also had some talented teams in Seattle. Are they losers....not really and they did hand us a bad loss yesterday. However, once they win the playoffs they won't be considered shit. The did impress me yesterday though. Let's see if they can go 46-5 like the Bulls did on their 72-10 season.

True, but calling Rondo/Perkins/Davis good young talent is a stretch. The ONLY reason they look acceptable is because of the big 3. I saw Tony Allen missing multiple WIDE OPEN layups. Davis is just a big body, nothing impressive. Perkins is too small for a center and only has good stats because of KG roaming the paint. Rondo is the only player they have that could develop into a good player, but he will never be an All-Star.

Well I guess Boston has suffered for long enough. Two decades of being irrelevant in the NBA would make me stop watching my team. I can't imagine how it must feel to suck that badly for 20 years.

right, lets ignore the fact tony allen is still recovering from a torn ACL and MCL. he obviously does not have the lift and the explosiveness he used to have. davis is still developing. give him time. as is perkins, though i will admit hes a backup at best. rondo may not be an all star but the kids got game. he plays relentless defense, and hes as fast as tony parker. he cant shoot for shit, but he knows that and thats why you dont see him forcing up bad shots like a lotta youngsters do. his passing is underrated.

Again none of those players would be anything special on any other team. It's precisely because the big 3 get so much attention that they even seem mediocre.

Davis = fat, slow, unathletic
Rondo = potential to be a starting PG, nothing more (definitely not an All-Star)
Perkins = backup C
Tony Allen = Garbage (torn ACL or not you don't miss wide open layups)
Pruit = ???

Ok so you have maybe one guy that might amount to something. When the big 3 are done (3-4 years) get ready for another 2 decades of sucktitude. It's sad how Celtics fans think their the shizz when their franchise has been utterly irrelevant since the 1980s. And they weren't even the best team in the 80's, the Lakers straight up owned them (Celtics went 1-2 in the Finals against the Lake show).

All of the Big 3 are losers when it comes to winning in the NBA.

KG+PP+RA+Doc Rivers = 0 rings and 0 Finals appearances

The playoffs have as much to do with the mental makeup of your team is it does with the talent. We will see how for real they are when they are facing Detroit or SAS when it matters.

DazedAndConfused
01-02-2008, 08:09 PM
Well TD is the only franchise player the Spurs have. Manu and Tony are All-Stars, not franchise players.

Plus, KG definitely had some teams with talent. They went all the way to the WCF finals one year with the best regular season record in the NBA and choked it all away to the Lakers because KG couldn't hit shots when it mattered.

Furthermore, Doc has no idea how to prepare this team of vets for a playoff run. They are playing their best basketball right now, and will probably sputter a bit come playoff time. Again, lack of championship experience will be the reason they lose this year.
