Jeff McDonald: Another Duncan scare

DENVER -- In what is rapidly turning into The Year of the Injury for the Spurs, this wasn't a welcome sight:

Tim Duncan wincing and grasping his right thumb after Denver's Kenyon Martin raked him across the arm in the third quarter of the Nuggets' victory here Thursday night.

Take a deep breath, Spurs fans: It appears Duncan will be OK.

After the foul, Duncan stayed in the game to shoot his ensuing foul shots -- he made one of two -- and then played most of the fourth quarter.

X-rays taken at the arena were negative, though Duncan left the building wearing a protective splint around his hand for precautionary reasons.

Wasn't too worried about it. He sucked it up and continued to play with the hard foul machines down low, so that should say enough about how serious it is.

I didn't get too worried either because I noticed that Tim just has a real low tolerance for pain. Even against Portland when he fell, I got really scared, but obviously it looked worse than what it was...

I'm not worried.
He messed with it the rest of the night. They took x-rays, which meant it warranted a look.
Duncan does seem to look more hurt than he is when things happen.
But, he, and the Spurs, can keep things under wraps. I want to see how he plays tonight. That will tell me more than McDonald did.

From The Sports Network, the first mention I've found that Duncan is "probable" because of his thumb.

Injuries

San Antonio

Forward Tim Duncan (1/4, thumb) is probable for Friday s game against New York. Guard Brent Barry (12/27, torn left calf) is expected to miss two weeks. *Guard Manu Ginobili (1/4, sprained left index finger) is questionable for Friday's game against New York.

I think that you mean that Tim has a HIGH tolerance for pain. :p: :p: :p:

with the way the spurs are playing, watch it be a close game...
You must be psychic, snafu. :ace

It looked like the thumb was bothering Timmy last night. He even took off the wrap he had on it after half time. Hopefully, this will not be a lingering injury that will mess with his shot the rest of the season.

I think Duncan may need a few games off, he shot the ball awful the rest of the game against Denver and awful again last night. He is not playing like himself right now, you can tell that finger is bothering him quite a bit.

o...i guess I used it wrong? What i Mean is: Tim's a drama queen and just hates to be in any sort of pain.
