NBA Picks: Spurs Highlight tight race in Western Conference SE Division.
Written by RenoGold

The NBA Western Conference Southeast Division is shaping up to be one doozy of a race with the top three teams, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Hornets with 21 wins. The Spurs are in first place by one game with only nine losses to 11 for the Mavericks and Hornets.

Friday night the three division leaders will look for wins to at least maintain ground in the division race. San Antonio will host the struggling New York Knicks (8-22), Dallas will play host to the also struggling Miami Heat (8-24) while New Orleans travels to Oakland for its game with the Golden State Warriors (19-14).

Oddsmakers at online sports wagering leader Sportsbook.com have installed the Spurs a heavy 12 ½ -point favorite with a 185 total. Bettors are hammering the Spurs with 82% of the action while 75% like the OVER to slip past the posted total.

The Spurs have not been stellar of late having lost six of their last 10 games both SU and against the spread. The Spurs will be playing their second game in as many nights after losing to the Nuggets 77-80 as on the road and failing to cover as a +2 point underdog Thursday night.

According to oddsmakers, the Mavericks are expected to have an easy time with the Heat as 14-point favorites with a 196 total. The public agrees as 86% are taking the Mavs and the double-digit line. The OVER is also a favorite with 77% of the betting public.

Of their last 10 games, the Mavericks have won seven SU while going 5-4-1 ATS over their last 10.

Dallas last played on Wednesday, defeating Golden State 121-99 and easily covering the -5 ½ point favorites line while the 220 points scored eclipsed the 213 posted total.

The Heat have lost eight of their last 10 games SU and failed to cover the betting line in 9-of-10. American Airlines Center in Dallas is not a good venue for the Heat to reverse its downward spiral.

New Orleans has the most difficult assignment having to battle Golden State on their court. The Hornets are +3 point road underdogs while the game total is holding at 207 ½ .
The betting trend shows the public slightly (58%) on the side of GS while 77% are betting OVER the posted total.

The Hornets have won seven of its last 10 games and covered 7-of-10 ATS. New Orleans has won four of its last 5 road games last picking up a win and cover on Wednesday at Staples Center against the Clippers.
