View Full Version : Titans vs Chargers (spread)

:p:
I like the Chargers by 2 touchdowns if they can get LT rolling. Titans offense is coming into this game with it's WRs and starting QB limping, don't think they will get much done. They've had very little success finding the end zone in the last two games. Merriman will probably lay some wood. Can't see anyone picking the Titans unless they know something the rest of the world doesn't.
Vince is a bust and this game will prove it.

Titans 20-17. Rivers throws a TD, LT gets one (but is held to under 100 yards), Tennessee gets 2 on the ground. VY has a decent but not spectacular game and gets way too much credit for leading the drive for a go-ahead Bironas field goal with little time remaining :D
If not, no way the Chargers win by more than 4.

The Titans' O-Line holding up pretty well so far, and Young is not as bad as some people claim. Also, the Titan D has the Charger offense on their heels. Jeff Fisher has got to be happy with the way this game is being played right now.

There isn't one QB from that draft doing worth a shit yet. Probably a bit of it has to do with people needing more than a season or two to become great QBs in the NFL.

While not great, Cutler has moved ahead of the other QBs in that class. He's the only one that looks like he he has a clue when throwing the ball.

Revisionist history already by the anti-Vince troll. They were at the 10 and Henry fumbled. Kicker misses a chip-shot. That could be a 10 point swing right there. But they lost the game because of Vince? Idiot. The only mistake Vince made was the interception when the game was already over. Vince didn't win the game, but his play didn't lose it either. Blame stupid penalties, bad DB play, an untimely turnover, and a miss by a kicker who almost never does. You can now go back to sucking Peyton's cock.

VY did not play very well, he seemed very afraid to run, like afraid to get hit. Is he becoming Colt McCoy or what? His passing was decent but his inability to see his short reads for quick throws when they brought blitzes kept leading to hurries and sacks

There were three sub-par (OK, shitty) offenses in the playoffs: Skins, Bucs, and Titans. Not a surprise that they all went out in round one.

He was clearly being pushed by his lineman. His extension is what broke the plane the second time, but unless he regained forward momentum from being pushed ahead by the lineman, he never would have been able to reach over.
The booth review said he broke the plane on the second effort so the refs concurred that he didn't make it on the initial push. At that point they should have negated the TD since the lineman pushed him forward.

Initial lunge one camera angle looks like LT certainly broke plane. However that camera is a yard or two removed from the goaline. dk why it was not placed right on the goaline. As play is going camera crew moves camera not only to goaline but they overcorrect and go a yard or two into the playing field. Screw up by camera crew for sure!
Opposite side angle looks like Tennessee middle linebacker Stephen Tullochkept him out, altho again the camera is not placed on the goaling but rather a yard or two in the playing field.
Then it looks like his momentum was stopped, altho in realtime it's all pretty much one motion.
2nd effort definitely a result of push in back by teamate Brandon Manumaleuna #86.
So did referee Ed Hochuli conclude LT broke it on the first lunge and thus conclude it was a blown call initially thus award? Because clearly LT got pushed in on #2.

i dnt think it was nearly as clear as you say it was. Looked to me like LT went airborne, got popped, stood up and then extended his arm. he was being pushed forward by his offense and being pushed back by the defense, it was the arm extension that got him the td, not a push from behind.

Without the push from behind the arm extension does not cross goaline. Not even close. Clear as a bell on attempt #2.

At that point they should have negated the TD since the lineman pushed him forward. The call on the field was that his second effort made it in, not his first effort. Why would they be reviewing a play that in their eyes didn't happen? They couldn't come out of the booth review and say, "after reviewing the play, we fucked up, the runner scored on the first and second efforts."
And leave it to Mono to bitch about LT some more. Do you truly think this Touchdown would have made a difference? The Titans had scored two field goals up until this point, and had done absolutely nothing in the second half against the Chargers D. What makes you think they would have been able to move the ball from their own 2 inch line? Would have still been a 4 point game with the Chargers getting the ball back. Stop your fucking whining.

the booth reviews the entire play. if he made it in the first time, that would be all they needed. they obviously didn't think he made it the first time, and needed to review the rest of the play since they specifically stated that he made it on the second effort. which brings into question why they ignored the fact that he got pushed forward on said second effort.

I'm sure if this was NE-SD in the AFC Championship Game and it was Maroney getting pushed into the end zone with a 10-6 lead, you'd have no problem with it as well, right?

Ehh........whatever. I still think he makes it initially. Titans linebacker hits LT while his feet are still in the endzone.
Watching it in slow motion does two things.
1. appears LT makes it initially.
2. appears LT's forward progress is stopped.
Watching it in real time does two things.
1. appears LT does not make it initially.
2. appears LT's forward progress is not stopped.

Referee reviews play and sees the receiver was not in fact inbounds, but defender facemasked him on attempted catch. The referee can not come out of the booth and say, "the receiver was out of bounds, but he was facemasked, so first down".

jags-chargers game. mathis gets the interception, gets up and runs with it. tomlin challenges that a part of mathis landed out of bounds. turns out, he was down by contact to begin with. refs call that he's down by contact, and don't mention that he was also out of bounds because it wasn't relevant.

facemask isn't a reviewable offense. No one challenged a facemask. I'm pointing out the fact that only what is being challenged can be reviewed.
Fisher challenged the second effort TD call made by the referees, not the first effort possible TD the referees possibly missed. And again, not really a big deal. Titans could not move the ball.

no, the entire play is reviewed. if a coach challenges if a player caught a ball inbounds, and it turns out that he actually stepped out of bounds, came back in, then caught the ball, they will rule that it was an illegal touch even though the coach didn't challenge an illegal touch. illegal touch and challenging if a player caught the ball out of bounds are both reviewable plays. even though the ref challenged one, if the other happened then it can be overturned as well.
