"Aris adds point guard Darius Washington
Darius Washington Aris TT Bank continues to bulk up its roster. On Saturday, the club announced the signing of point guard Darius Washington until the end of next season. Washington (188, 22) returns to Thessaloniki after playing for rival PAOK last season, during which he averaged 10.6 points in seven ULEB Cup games in a stint that was shortened by injuries suffered in a traffic accident. He arrives from the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA, where he played in 18 games this season, averaging 2.9 points in 8 minutes per game. Washington made a name for himself with a strong college basketball career at the University of Memphis, but he chose to turn professional after just two seasons. He also has played professionally in the Czech Republic for CEZ Nymburk, which he helped to win that nation's championship at the end of last season. Washington is the club’s second signing in a span of a few days after forward Vladimer Boisa joined last week."

I can gives fan here story on him. He make big move up from before be with PAOK. Aris is Euroleague team, 3rd best team of Greece after best team Panathinaikos and next best team Olympiakos. But Aris in history of Greece 2nd best team after Panathinaikos. This same team that before have Nikos Galis and Panagiotis Giannakis. Aris have some other good player right now like Massey.

I think I read 800,000 the Euro money plus he get expense for house and car plus he get all taxes amounts paid. Plus the exchange rates he probable get like $2.5 million be from NBA team how Greek paper say.

I heard Darius Washington said he'd never play for Van Gundy again after all the mean things Van Gundy said about him.

I can give update today. Panathinaikos of Euroleague beat ULEB Cup team Panellinios today by the score 76-70 in Greek Cup Final Four. But Washington team Aris of Euroleague lose game in Cup Final Four to Olympiacos team of Euroleague. Washington to bad make many mistake and turnover or miss layup at end of game and cause team lose game 72-70 score but he have been doing good before this.
So this mean Spanoulis and Washington not play each other in Greek Cup Championship instead because Aris lose instead be Olympiacos verse Panathinaikos. Also in Greek national championship so far Aris in 3rd place behind Panathinaikos and then Olympiacos.

Huh? Washington landed on his feet. Good place for him to get valuable experience. I have no doubt he'll be back in the NBA again.

Not good update I have for Washington. Aris lose 7 straight game today. Next game they plays is against Panathinaikos so good chance have 8 straight loss because Panathinaikos 18-0 in Greek league so far. They have lose first 2 game in Top 16 of Euroleague playoffs so look like they will not make Euroleague Top 8.
In Greek league if lose next game to Panathinaikos which good chance will lose game then they will be in 4 place of Greek league. Panionios should have easy game next week so mean they moves to the 3 place of Greek league. This mean Aris for now would be lose next year spot in Euroleague. They has to finish in at least 3 place in Greek league to makes Euroleague next year or Panionios go instead if they make 3 place.
Coach of team is very frustrate and not knowing what to do with Washington. He say something wrong with Washington and he play horrible these losing games. He try everything to help him and nothing work. Some media says already Aris managers upset with him and wonders if they make mistake and maybe have to release him because they have gave him big contract and he play bad.
I not know what happen he start out good with Aris.

It would be nice if he came back to the states, but I don't know if the Toros would have any rights to him. I seem to remember the 66ers keeping Sean Banks for a time after the Hornets waived him, but the D-League rules change frequently and aren't collected anywhere I could actually keep track of them.
If Cheyne Gadson is leaving the country again, Darius would be a great addition for the Toros' stretch run.

I not think they release him he have good ability. They just gets mad at amount they pay and team seem worse with him. Media and coach frustrate he make bad defense effort some time and bad decision on offense at end of games.
He still very young player, I think it just because this level of Euroleague Top 16 playoff and also Greek league with Euroleague spot for next year up with plays games like against Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, Panionios all the good Greek team and then like Greek Cup final four with Olympiacos it obvious he just not experince enough yet for such level.
But I think he have very good ability he just need year or two to be player they expect.

Darius did the same thing in Austin. He had a very strong start and obviously has athleticism and talent, but he never improved on his start. Good teams figured him out and erased his offense, and instead of mixing things up Darius just kept trying the same things that weren't working. That frustration affected his defense too, and the Spurs didn't think it was worth the money to try to develop him further when he just seemed to be getting worse.

Aris' coach is a crazy guy. Last year, during a press conference, he said to his GM " you can kiss my fucking ass". :lol
BTW, I'm not sure that Gadson has signed overseas. We will see if he is with Toros for the next game.

No he have good talent to be type player for Euroleague top 8 team in future, not sure about Final Four type team though maybe it take him some years more for this. He certain good enough for Aris but he just young and not good with experience at this time. He have been plays games against best Greek teams with importance of games very high and also in Greek Cup with very high level of Greek league then in the Euroleague playoff level.
The bad Euroleague teams have all been drops so now all games hard. He just not experience enough yet for such level pressure I think. Maybe this why Spurs lets him go? But he have good ability. He similar to Kennedy Winston. He American player on PAO he play last years with Panionios. Good ability just need time to get proper experiences.

This so far exact same thing what happen with him in Aris. I not know what bother him. He start very good with Aris and look like very good player then sudden in next games make many bad decision in offense and then stop play defense and coach sudden get mad.

Terrible result for Aris and Washington. Washington try make some key play down stretch of game against Maroussi (old team of Spanoulis) and he come up with turnovers and lead to fouls of other team and they gets free throws and makes them.
Maroussi knock Aris out of Greek playoffs and this means Aris is eliminate from next year Euroleague. Very bad thing for them and owner of team is put Jeremiah Massey contract up for sale because team will not be able to compete in Euroleague next year after Maroussi beats them in playoff.
I thinks these years in Greek league is will help Washington. He is talent player but he have very much thing he need to work on and improve.

Is report Aris will sell Washington to Russian league and ULEB Cup league team UNICS. This because he was not consider good enough player by new Aris coach and also Aris managers to get team back to Euroleague next year. They believe he one of reasons team lose Euroleague spot this year.
Career in Europe is not go so good for him so far.
