In the fourth and final update before All-Star starters are announced on Jan. 24, Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics and LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers remain the leaders in the Eastern Conference while Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets continue to pace Western Conference players after the fourth returns of 2008 NBA All-Star Balloting program.

Garnett leads all players with 1,756,251 votes with Cleveland’s James – the 2007 top vote recipient – following Garnett at the forward spot in the East with 1,564,974 votes, the second-highest overall tally. The Orlando Magic ’s Dwight Howard leads Eastern Conference centers (1,456,898), with the Miami Heat ’s Dwyane Wade (1,179,889) and the New Jersey Nets ’ Jason Kidd (868,069) topping the conference’s guards.

Bryant leads all Western Conference players with 1,441,333 votes, with the Houston Rockets ’ Tracy McGrady following him at guard (907,639). San Antonio’s Tim Duncan leads Western Conference forwards with 1,246,125 votes while Denver’s Carmelo Anthony places second with 1,218,106 votes. Houston’s Yao leads Western Conference centers (1,255,263).

"This year the NBA has replaces the Shooting Stars competition at All-Star Weekend with the "kiss KG's black ass" contest. Representatives from various media outlets, including several from the Northeast, will line up to dodge various obstacles including cones, walls and life size cutouts of Rasheed Wallace and Tim Duncan for the opportunity to be the one to exclusively pucker up and kiss KG's butt instead of having to share with others."

Unless AI catches Tmac somehow, it is highly doubtful that Parker will be selected as reserve. I am not saying that AI will be selected as reserve. He will definitely split the coaches votes even if he is not selected as reserve. AI has better chance than TP.

Jeff McDonald: Parker, Ginobili as All-Stars? Don't bank on it

The latest installment of All-Star voting results has been released by the league, and there's not much change among the prominent Spurs involved.

First, the good news: Tim Duncan still leads all Western Conference forwards, and appears a lock to start his ninth consecutive All-Star game.

Now, the bad: Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are still fifth and sixth among Western Conference guards, and appear certain to get shut out of a New Orleans invite. The fans aren't going to vote them in. It's looking more and more like the coaches probably won't either.

Why? The Western Conference is suffering from a glut of guards.

Last year's West squad included six of them. Let's assume the year's team takes the same number.

Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady are leading this year's fan voting. They're both in. Steve Nash and Allen Iverson aren't going to be passed over. Chris Paul will almost certainly make the cut -- he's having an All-Star year and plays for the team hosting the Feb. 17 game.

That leaves perhaps one guard slot left. It most likely has Baron Davis' name on it. Or Deron Williams'.

Barring a miracle between now and Jan. 24, when the All-Star squads are announced, Parker and Ginobili are probably going to get snubbed. So much for being the two top scorers on the Western Conference's top team.

If that happens, it will be the first time since the 2004 game that the Spurs sent just one player to the annual All-Star extravaganza.

At this point, I don't think I want Tony and Manu to be in the All-Star game. They will need the rest. I would rather they are healthy for the playoff run.
