That was about the best defense they've played all night. And that last play was about the worst.

I'm pretty convinced the Spurs actually don't want to win this game.

The CIA wheels are turning.

Lately I'm reading a lot of articles about the SUNS' problems... what about the Spurs' problems?

Last year it took benching Beno for Vaughn to change up the team's fortunes. It wasn't the rodeo road trip as it had been in previous seasons (we went 4-4). What's the magic bullet this season?
that this is the last year for alot of the guys.

Can't be a carry if he doesn't dribble it again. He passed the ball.

Fine, it was palming then.

Spurs couldnt hit their shots and Parker/Manu played like crap. Billups/Rip play great and we werent even blown out. If this was against Dallas, we would have been humilated. I consider the Mavs a much tougher matchup than the Pistons.

Spurs still experimenting playing 11 while Detroit come out for blood playing their best lineup heavy.
I don't think the experimenting is an excuse for how badly the Spurs played outside of Tim Duncan.

There is no excuse for the horrible team defense.

Only Tim and Manu, I noticed played really solid D. The rest were just all over the place. Even if it's regular season. This loss just plain sucked.

I know you want to believe that and I think pistons is the team to beat in the east but don't think they are better than teh spurs on a 7 game series. Happens the spurs did almost everyhing you can do wrong, wrong tonight. And pistons actually read the game defensively very well. Not an expert but i think this one is on flip.

Duncan was the only Spur who had a game.
You can't win alone.

Credit to the Pistons for taking Parker out of the game completely.

I'm the opposite. last year at least we were competitive during the slump, and we weren't 20th in FG% defence... and it was obvious that JV needed to come in for Beno (which made a huge difference).

This team needs a jolt, I hope Brent's return can provide it. And Pop needs to stop tinkering and settle on a rotation.

Detroit is one of the many teams that seem to have a personal vendetta against us.

With Detroit, I don't think it's a vendetta at all. Rasheed loves Tim Duncan. He is one of the few players he measures himself to, along with KG. And, the rest of the Pistons appreciate and respect the Spurs. They will always come to play hard against the Spurs, win, lose, or blowout by either team. I don't think it's a vendetta at all. It's the realization of how great the Spurs are and they must bring their best game to beat them. I don't think there's any animosity as with teams like Denver or Phoenix. It's rooted out of respect.

It's cool. No problem at all. But, honestly, Rasheed is just a character. He probably respects one team in the entire NBA, and it's the Spurs. And, aside from one or two jackass Piston fans on these boards, the majority of Pistons fans really respect the Spurs. We wish the Pistons have had the success the Spurs have had. Really, the Pistons and Pistons fans aren't the ones to get upset about after a game. We actually like you guys.

Really, the Pistons and Pistons fans aren't the ones to get upset about after a game. We actually like you guys.

Aww group hug!

Kidding. I agree with JamStone. I dotn think there are two teams or two fan bases that respect each other as much as the pistons and spurs.

Hope we see each other at the end of the road :toast

Oh, to watch Tony and Manu struggle against Lindsey Hunter. :p:

Hunter is one of the best defenders in the league even at his advanced age. Don't you remember what he did to Beno?

Still, Parker & Gino played terribly. They had no confidence in their penetration on on their jump shots. You could tell they were intimidated by the Pistons defence.

I have seen that on this board. You guys always give us props and act humble after we face off against each other. I know Sheed is just a character. Shit talking, or dancing on a win, etc etc doesnt really bother me. If anything, it's why the game is fun. I dont take that stuff personally. Glad you understand and forgive me. :toast :toast

Question : Do you guys think we're playing worse than last year? And do you think that it's not going to be as simple as last seasons "we're not making any trades" to fix the problem this time. I'm leaning towards looking at trade possibilities.
The way the Spurs are playing right now has nothing to do with personnel or lack there of. It's more of an effort and execution problem. The ball movement is not there, the energy is not there. And up until a few games ago the "Big 3" as a whole haven't been there. IMO there's no need to make a move via trade. Unless Barry is going to be sidelined longer then expected.

Elson is only good when the pressure is off.

yes I agree..........just like tony parker. One announcer recently said that TP was basically a one-dimensional PG. Penetrate and layup. One dimensional players usually have a problem with a good defensive team. Tonight was another example. But it wasn't the first time and it won't be the last time.

Until TP has a reliable jumper, he will not be a clutch player against a top defensive team (no, i am not talking about Cleveland).

There was one sequence where everyone collapsed around Duncan and TP got a pass about 15 feet away with no one near him. He must have spent 3 seconds looking at the basket, wondering whether he should shoot it, and almost double-clutched it before realizing if he didn't shoot, he was going to be yelled at by Pop and let it go.

I mean, how could a supposedly top PG have that kind of lack of self-confidence on a wide open jumper 15 feet away with not one player near him? Damn he frustrates me. And i thought he was making real headways this year earlier in the season. Lately, he is playing like the old Parker that used to drive me crazy.

Um did Parker bang your wife or something? Quit being a douche and talk about something else for a change.

What a piss poor effort on both ends of the court.

It wasn't from lack of effort. There were lot of matchup problems for Spurs. Bowen couldn't stop Hamilton. Parker couldn't do anything against Billups (did someone keep saying Parker is way better than Billups?). Oberto is too small and weak to stop Rasheed in the paint.

Our players try to go one-on-one instead of using TD (they started to go to him after Parker kept missing and getting the ball stripped, but by then it was too late).

And then when TD got hot. Gino tried to take over with jumpers and missed most of them.

Let's face it, Pistons just outplayed them.

It's hard for Bowen to stop anyone from the bench. When you are trying to come back at the end of the game, it's always nice to know you have Tim Duncan and Tony Parker patrolling the lane ready to defend the rim.

You most certainly must have an "Obstructed View" when you say defense and TP in the same sentence.

What would we do without SpursDynasty to spread his knowledge of basketball? We're so blessed...

In fact, almost all of the Spurs' losses this year have been because we're not making our shots....it's as simple as that, just put the ball in the basket.

Nothing drastic.

I don't see anything going on to worry about. We just need to make shots.

correct me if i'm wrong.
but i belive the way their playing could be due to the injuries they have suffered throughout the yr.
givin time for them to be togather as a whole their be fine.spurs are like the pistons they realize reg season means very little and thats why i respect them.look at it this way.all the injuries spurs have suffered they still have only 11 losses thats impressive.btw i'm new to this board,i'm very impressed.

You most certainly must have an "Obstructed View" when you say defense and TP in the same sentence.
You must be completely stupid if you actually think I'm suggesting Parker under the rim with Duncan is a good idea.

Ask Richard Hamilton if Parker's a good defender. :rolleyes That said, he isn't when you have him trying to guard a 4 or 5 two feet from the hoop, particularly when you are trying to get stops.

Then exactly what do you mean when you talk about "Tony Parker patrolling the lane ready to defend the rim?"

I was being facetious. Since Tony Parker is six feet tall, I'd figured that would be obvious, particularly since I used the quote above. It's hard to believe that anyone that claims to know anything about basketball would fail to see the sarcasm in my statement, especially coming in a game thread for a loss. So I therefore go back to my original hypothesis: you must be completely stupid.

Except you stated "Tim Duncan" as well who does in fact patrol the paint and defend the rim. If it was sarcasm, why also include Tim Duncan's name?

It appears you just don't make much sense.

Dirk > Rasheed :elephant

Dirk > Rasheed when Rasheed goes crazy
when Rasheed is in good mood, he will own Dirk like hell....

Rasheed would have at least 3 rings had he known to control his temper.
