They have one win against a team above .500.

Answer: A whole lot.

There are quite a few teams that suck worse than the Lakers at this point but I don't see them with their own thread. Why are you so obssessed with a team that is admittedly rebuilding???

Many times, the Lakers are rebuilding and no one is claiming that they expect to win a title this year. There are holes in the team, no solid PG and they need a good big man that can rebound. Mihm was not supposed to be a starter but with Divac's injuries it's been a challenge.

I know, it's just funny to me. :)

The Lakers blow.

The Laker organization is terrible for splitting up Kobe and Shaq.

Jackson left because he didn't feel like he could coach Kobe, and they just fell apart.

The Lakers are rebuilding when they shouldn't be.
I'd say they just suck now. They had a great team and flushed it down the toilet.

They pretty much committed suicide last summer, and im glad.

It`s Vujačič there , but he never get the time to play. In preaseason he played great, but now he dont even play anymore. Rudy is stu....!! :pctoss

I like the speed on this team, but right now, they are not a good defensive team, but I still think they will make the playoffs. Anyway, this team will win games if they can stay close enough for Kobe to make plays. My thinking is that a good point guard and a good rebounding big man will help them a lot.

Sasha should get more minutes than he's getting now (okay, he's been DNP for how long?) but he's too inexperienced and too weak to be a starter.

He should get more time in the coming months though: http://www.dailynews.com/Stories/0,1413,200~25388~2629015,00.html

new coach
new system
new players

they could start playing well and get to the playoffs
it is how you are playing in april then now
you just have to win enough games to get to the playoffs

I don't know. For the first three quarters against the Heat, the Lakers looked suprisingly good. They held their own and led against the Heat for the majority of the game. I thought it was going to be a blowout.

The problem is that the team needs to run more plays for the other players. It just seems like they have no system they follow and they don't seem to have many plays they run, except for the usual "give it to Kobe." I wonder how the team would have done if they had Dwayne Wade in the trade instead of one of the other players...

The Lakers are scoring well but there are only 2 plays they run: Kobe iso and the pick-n-roll (which is why a guy like Cook is getting as many shots as Lamar Odom). This would not be the case with a solid PG. Their biggest problem - DEFENSE. They have not won a game yet where the opposing team scores more than 100 points.

haha right on Mikey.

Heres a problem for everyone.

What would you rather have.

The Lakers miss the playoffs? Or knocking them out in the first round.

Id say knocking them out.

1. Revenge.
2. they dont get a good lottery pick.

I say knocking them out in the first round because then there'd be Spurs playoff games in LA and I'd get to go. :)

Beeting the crap out of LA in the playoffs would be awesome. But getting to the Playoffs would make Kobe look better than he is, and I hate Kobe. So I can't really decide what I want to see.

beating them in the 1st rd is very likely as it stands right now. i expect the spurs will surpass the suns and go in as the 1 seed. i think the rockets will play better over the 2nd half and lakers will likely be the 8th seed.

but them missing it all together isn't all that shabby either.

having lakers miss the playoff guarantees that they will win the number one draft pick :rolleyes

I don't get not playing Vujacic. Tierre Brown is worthless and will never be any better than an average 3rd-string PG. Vujacic should be backing Atkins up until he's good enough for them to switch places. Atkins is definitely not starting material, but Vujacic looks like a good enough talent to try to develop into a starter.

And to answer the question, I'd like the Lakers to miss the playoffs and get an impact player in the draft so they can someday become our rivals again. It sucks not having that one rival you hate more than Steve Smith and Hedo Turkoglu combined.

You don't think Tierre-able is good? :lol I like Tony Bobbitt more than Tierre and would like to see Sasha get more PT. Tierre's strength is that he can penetrate where Chucky has to stay on the outside. Bobbitt is a better perimeter defender than both of them.

Have you guys seen Vujacic play enough to say that he should get playing time? I know that people saw him in preseason and summer league (I saw him too), but I understand that he is completely erratic and really weak physically.

I'm here boys and girls.

I'm not worry about the Lakers right now, they are a very good team in a rebulding season. I think they will get better as the season progresses.

BTW Once we get in the playoffs, you'd better watch it!
