That's easy... the Spurs go for a lot of halfcourt sets with the bigs attacking the paint and/or guards penetration. You can easily prove that there is higher probability of getting a block under these circumstances than when the offense is predicated on exterior jump shooting or fast breaks. Opponents teams will have more blocks statistically because the Spurs offense is predicated on that type of game.

Despite opponents teams having a high number of total blocks against the Spurs, if you run the numbers correctly, I wouldn't be surprise that the opponents have equal or less blocks per play in the paint when playing the Spurs. Roland et al. from 82games started keeping more in detail stats and they might know the answer.

I don't think they are blocked a lot.
They are third in the NBA with 4.19 and kings are 5th with 4.37.
Am I misreading your stats?

The stats are NBA.com's, not mine.

SA is first is blocking shots @6.51/game,

while SA is 3rd _BEST_ in _fewest_ shots being blocked, @4.19/game, giving SA the 2nd best BPG differential.

The San Antonio Spurs are one of the few teams to have success at Arco Arena in recent years. More teams than usual are enjoying visits there this season.
The Spurs try to run their winning streak to six games as they look to deal the Sacramento Kings a third straight home loss.

Shortly before the season began, the league's general managers voted Sacramento as having the NBA's best homecourt advantage by a wide margin. The Kings haven't lost more than eight home games in any of the last four regular seasons, including a 34-7 mark in 2003-04.

They've already lost four games at Arco Arena with less than a third of this season gone.

The first meeting of 2004-05 between these teams came in San Antonio and the Spurs won fairly easily, 101-85 in their season opener.

San Antonio has won at least once in Sacramento in six of the last seven seasons, going 8-6 in that span.

If the Spurs win again at Arco Arena on Sunday, the Kings will record three consecutive losses at Arco for the first time since a three-game skid in April 2000.

That will be tough to prevent with the way San Antonio is playing.

The Spurs have won five in a row -- every victory has been by double digits -- and nine of 10 to move within a game of Phoenix for the NBA's best record.

``We're playing good team ball right now,'' Tim Duncan said after scoring 23 points in Friday's 98-79 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

``We have a very unselfish team and guys are moving the ball real well, finding open guys and making plays. When you have seven or eight guys contributing on a nightly basis, it's tough to beat a team like that.''

Tony Parker continued his red-hot play Friday with 21 points and 11 assists. During the Spurs' five-game win streak, Parker has averaged 22.8 points and 6.2 assists while shooting nearly 60 percent from the field (48-for-81).

The Kings completed a 2-3 homestand -- their worst since November 1997 -- with a 98-94 loss last Sunday to Golden State. The Warriors, in last place in the Pacific Division, snapped an 11-game losing streak at Arco.

Sacramento had four days off following that defeat and came back to win 109-102 in Utah on Friday behind Peja Stojakovic's 26 points.

Chris Webber scored 14 of his 25 points in the third quarter. He's scored at least 20 in his last eight games.
