Besides injuries and that is early, please notice Spurs have played already the most games of any current or surging West power (except for NOH) in the tougher W conference http://www.nba.com/standings/team_record_comparison/conferenceNew_Std_Cnf.html

Notice the Lakers for instance have only played 20 and Spurs 3-5 WC games already more than most others.

I'm more concerned with their crappy, uninspired play.
They're looking very passionless and corporate right now.

Template for Spurs back to back years:

Year 1: Win Championship after flying under radar.

Year 2: be favored and lose.

Year 3: fly under radar all year and win championship

Pop finally figured out you have to skip over the middle year and turn to shit outta the gate after championship year.

Spurs today are on a 56-26 season rate.

The top 6 WC team records span only 2L, 11 - 13L

bingo

I would be super pissed if the spurs were like the 7th seed and 8 games behind Phoenix/Dallas, but considering how brutal they've been playing lately and are still just one game within the top western seed with arguably more room to improve than any other top 5 team in the west......well, you can't be too angry about that.

Exactly, no need for your players to tire themselves out or aggravate injuries. An experienced team like the spurs is able to turn it on both in 4th quarter and in post season.

Not concerned, but it's more fun to watch wins than losses during the regular season (regardless of whether they win the championship).

Also, they seem to have more road games left than most of the other contenders.

I am not concerned at all. All teams go through funks. Dallas had a major one late Nov-Dec., Suns still have issues and the top 3 (us, mavs and suns) all still have room for improvement but are still pretty much at the top and will be in the end IMO. We always struggle around this time, hard to watch now but not later in June!

I hate the regular season. Everyone brings their best against the Champs. We just have to fight through this funk and get on a roll in March/April heading into the playoffs. Other than that, the regular season is a bore and a hopelessly long pre-season.

He's just giving some players more playing time than they'd normally get, giving them valuable experience they'll need in May/June. I don't know the specifics of playing time but it sure seems to me like I've seen a lot of Jacque Vaughn, for example, this year. And lord knows, he needs the experience. I've only been following the Spurs a short while and most years I look at 'em in January and think, 'no way are they going to win the west, much less a title.' etc etc. Waaay to early to panic.
