I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how parking is there in the morning. I've been attending UTSA since 04, but tomorrow will be my first time having a class downtown. So anyway is parking just as bad at 1604? My class starts at 9:30 in the morn tomorrow. Should I go an hour earlier?

Depends on what type of permit (if any) you have...

Park at the 1604 campus and take the VIA bus down. It will save you gas (well, if 1604 is closer to your house) and parking headaches. It's free with your student ID.

I've heard parking at the Downtown Campus isn't half as bad as parking here at 1604. I have a Faculty Staff A permit and still have to drive around for 20-30 minutes looking for a space. Fuck parking at UTSA.

The downtown campus is so much more laid back and parking was awesome.

I wish I knew then what I know now.
Parking at UTSA was a bitch. There was this one time I was running late for a final and found a really good parking spot in front of the convocation center. I was in such a hurry and so fucking ecstatic I found a parking spot that I ended up hitting the truck beside me. And because parking was so horrible and I just knew I wouldn't find another spot, I parked my car there. Yeah. Fuck UTSA parking.

I know someone who intentionally took as many classes as possible downtown because she preferred it to the 1604 campus, and she lives much closer to the 1604 campus.

So that was you!? Jk. But seriously if you live closer to downtown. You can help yourself by taking classes there. It's just alot less stress.

I've never had a problem finding parking downtown.
I've had classes in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings (like this semester). You'll find SOMETHING. It's nothing like the 1604 campus. Worst case scenario is you don't find something in the lot right across the street, and you have to cross over to the little garage. Even that's nothing compared the walk you have to make at the 1604 campus.

I've heard good things about that place.
Is it just good Mexican food, or like a bar too?

Smaller classes. Easier parking.
And to me the classes I've taken down there have always been a little easier. Dunno if the professors do it on purpose, or it's just because the classes are smaller...but I've always done better in downtown classes. Much less hassle.
Much less eye candy down there though.

Just one thing though...
GOOD LUCK FINDING A GAS STATION DOWNTOWN.
I drove around for a good 20 minutes today just praying to find one before I finally ran out of gas. Finally I found this little ghetto spot where the guy's behind the bulletproof glass and the gas is in those old school machines.
So fill up before going downtown.

There's a bunch of gas stations on San Pedro. Are you not familiar with that area of SA? I grew up in that area. I went to an elementary school thats 3 blocks away from downtown. To me that campus feels like home. It feels like I'm going to high school or something. Its great.

It was mostly because of the smaller classes.

Ya, but that's by SAC.
UTSA downtown is more in the Flores / Durango area. The only time I'm in that area is if I have a class, or I'm taking guests to the Riverwalk.

I'm just saying if you are in desperate need of a gas station go north on flores take a right on cypress and theres an exxon on the left side. I'm mean if your gonna be driving all around downtown looking for one...

if you go out the Frio street side and go north just pass W. Commerce on the left, there are some gas pumps there. or turn west on W. Commerece and go over the bridge pass the light,( Colorado St.) and there is a station on the left at the next block........ damn......

Barely 100 yards.
Standing on the far side of the UTSA campus, I could probably throw a football from there to the Court parking lot. :elephant But the jail's behind that...so hmm, ya I guess about 100 yards.

Actually from campus you can go down durango, take a right on South Flores...and after about 2 miles you hit one on the right. Ran into it by luck as I was about to be stranded.

You see some weird shit downtown...
I was in a...place...and saw this old Hispanic guy take a paper and roll it up, and put it in this older girls ear on one side...then burn the paper. Apparently she was having hearing problems, or water caught in her ear? Or air? I dunno...but I didn't realize that was a possible remedy.
