View Full Version : Spurs vs. Kings Jan. 2nd - Game Blog

This won't be an easy game for the Spurs. The Kings always give the Spurs trouble ... especially early in the season. The Kings offense is always one of the best in the league and with the amount of passing they do, they've been able to penetrate the Spurs' defense in the past.

What are the keys to the game?

1. Duncan needs to start out strong and finish strong-He can't take his time getting into the game. He has been lately but he needs to get into the game really quick tonight.
2. Perimeter defense-Especially on three pointers. The spurs are giving up a high percentage of three's this season and tonight they need to contain peja and bibby
3. Parker, Ginobili, and bench-parker and ginobili need to have good games and the bench needs to contribute as well.
4. Good offense-They need to counterattack sacramento with good passing and scoring. They cant come in and shoot high thirtys low fourties percentage wise. Move the ball around as well.

Defense, if we hold the kingz under 95 we win.

Plenty of Duncan, he says his minutes will go up, so we're hoping that happens.

How about no more Tech's from Pop? That always helps..

And more Tony Parker, he'll get in the kingz "defense" anytime.

I think we have a good chance. The Kingz have lost most of their games to the Western Conference.

I agree with all 4 four. The one I would add is that Rasho needs to come playing the inspired defense early that he has of late. Sealing up the rim can really cause some problems for Weber and allow our perimeter defenders to really press up on Sacs shooters.

This is going down exactly how I predicted in another thread. Kings early lead but Spurs are going to get it going. Brown with good play s/p Duncan steal. Spurs need to keep it 6-8 point early this team is too dangerous to fall behind to much.

Kings now up by 6. Duncan with 2 though and a foul can cut to 3.

I think a lot of that comes from Pops extremely organized ways. He really likes to stick with the same rotation for his star players every night.

Kings back up by 5 after Spurs had their run. Defense seems to suck when it counts tonight and Kings now up by 7 with 8 left.

This totally stinks. Spurs had momentum and then gave it away with a turnover, blocked shot etc and soft defense. I will be very surprised if they pull this one out. Duncan having terrible game.

MadDoc

Duncan makes one to bring within 5. Now it is up to defense. Bowen with rebound. Bad shot then Rose with steal and slam and Spurs can bring it within 2.

FT short but Bowen intercepts and then stolen back. Darn. Kings up again by 5. Spurs cannot shut them down when they need to do. Webber is giving a sluggish Duncan fits tonight, tied him up 2x last few minutes. Duncan wins tip, and Parker misses badly on 3.
