Early game. It starts at noon CST (in seven hours).

Spurs like to sleep walk and lose early games. Especially on the road.

With that in mind, this sounds a game where the struggling will continue :smchode:

i predict a sudden increase in the population of pussy trolls. the only way to avert this disaster is for the spurs to stomp the kittens to the ground.

Bobcats have beaten a lot of the good teams lately...they seem to always beat the contenders every year. Last year they beat the Spurs, Mavs, Suns, and Pistons I believe. This year they've already beaten the Celts (almost twice).

Oh and Richardson has been on a tear the past couple of games. Bruce will have his hands full.

Watch out for Nazr....

Since joinig Charlotte he is averaging 10.9 PPG and 8.5 RPG (and of course 1.58 TO and 3.7 PF in only 25 minutes).

As timvp said, the Spurs usually don't do well with the early start.

Based on how they've been playing I hope they come out with an attitude. It's time to start playing like they mean it. I hope they put the game away early, let the starters get some 4th quarter rest and let Pop tinker with his bench to end the game.

I'd like this stretch of games to start with a win. But as long as they play well I'll take what happens. I always deal with a loss better if they leave it all on the court for 48 minutes.

Duncan has played well lately, except for turnovers. I expect him to take better care of the ball today and I expect him to be a monster on the boards.

I think Bruce will guard GWallace (if the Spurs are actually starting a small lineup).

Let's see if Pop can make this small lineup work. I'm scared that Finley or Richardson are guarding Richardson. Yikes!

Ah.. looks like Bruce on Richardson for now and Finley tries to guard GWallace.

We'll see how this goes.

That's what I've been talking about. He was playing so well then with the return of Ginobli and Barry his shots are way down and his minutes are sporadic.

I just don't understand how your starting shooting guard only takes 1 shot in 6-8 minutes. Today it seems to be working for him but 8 out of 10 times it will not.

Duncan is on the bench with ice on his knee

He's wearing a sleeve on that knee. I think he's a little banged up, as most players are by this point in the season. He had his right wrist/thumb wrapped last game, and he's worn the knee sleeve a lot more this season than I remember in years past. He even had his elbow wrapped a few games ago.

Whatever these nagging things are I hope they clear up fast. We need him as close to 100% as we can get him coming down the stretch.

A quality win against a shit team. Hopefully they can get one against a team in the west that DOESN'T suck. I can't fathom how Spurs fans can sit back and say that there is nothing wrong in Spurs Land. I personally don't hate the Spurs, but complacency and overconfidence in the regular season will lead to the same in the postseason. I can't remember the last time I saw the Spurs play 4 quarters of basketball (I watch most of the games since my wife is a Spurs fan). They tend to coast for 3 qtrs and try to turn it on in the 4th. When will Pop address this issue and DO something about it.

My guess is that it has a little something to do with confidence and age. They don't need to prove themselves, as they've already got 4 trophies, so they allow themselves to coast a bit, knowing (hoping?) that they'll be able to turn it on in the playoffs.

I wish they wouldn't do this, as it costs them home-court advantage in the playoffs, but again, they've proven they play great on the road in the post-season.

wormy
01-21-2008, 04:49 PM
The real problem is what do the Spurs do if they are unable to "turn it on" after the all-star break. It could be too late by then to tinker with the puzzle pieces. It could also put them in a position where they are fighting to MAKE the playoffs. If they get in that situation, they will have to expend WAY more energy before the playoffs and will come in to the playoffs tired and playing on the road. Championship teams do mot have a "we KNOW we are better" mentality, occasionally they SHOW they are better. Preparation and consistency are what wins championships. The west is WAY too tough to have a "wait till the playoffs" attitude. Pop had better address the issues and get his team back to dominating the bad teams and beating the good ones soon.

Championship teams do not have a "we KNOW we are better" mentality, occasionally they SHOW they are better. Preparation and consistency are what wins championships.

Yes, that is how champions operate. You are observant. One could hope that the Suns might learn a thing or two from the Silver & Black -- how to prepare, be consistant, and winning a championship.

The west is WAY too tough to have a "wait till the playoffs" attitude. Pop had better address the issues and get his team back to dominating the bad teams and beating the good ones soon.

Oh, he will. The Spurs will be ready come playoff time. Count on it.

First thing you got to do is learn that she who controls the remote, rules.
