Actually it's probably already closed for the Spurs. The West is getting better and better and the Spurs are merely getting older. Is this the end? What do you think?

Yes, one blowout home loss to the team with the best record in the Western Conference before you go out on your longest road trip of the season.

How long is the rodeo trip this year?

Many players are retiring this year or in their final year contract...It has been proven many times that rebuilding around TD is very easy...He has at least 2 rings and 1 finals MVP left in him. So window is not closed yet...

Back-to-Back may or may not happen. That would not take anything away from this team as they have shown remarkable consistency than most all time teams....

It is not closed until the big 3 are out of their primes and Timmy has at least 3 years left of prime play. Spurs have a good shot of at least one more ring.

In '05 the Spurs got blown out at least 3 times that I remember. I do know they lost by over 20 to the Nuggets and by over 20 to Mavs and they still won.

Anyone else notice the Spurs are only "old" when they lose and are a "veteran team" when they win?

I think it's time to look at the big picture instead of labeling the team something different after every damn game.

Before tonight's game, Tim Duncan put up 27 and 17 one game and 30 and 12 the next night. Until he stops putting up #'s like that....the window will always be open.

There is still a lot of basketball to play and you can never count the Spurs out. This team will respond and we will be laughing about doubting them (again) so early in the season when this season is over.

Not trying to be picky, but Duncan's stats his last 2 games were:

Lakers: 28 and 17, with 4 assists and 3 blocks
Heat: 30 and 11, with 5 assists and a block

It's just me, I like to keep his numbers straight. :)

Damn you're playing your cards hard yet the cards are terrible.

Not on a high from the ring night, or on a glory trip of recent titles and success. This happens to everyone, these so called odds or discouragement. It's not our demise at all. If we lose or fail the goal for the trip it's because they are not in sync, clicking on a level they play with all the time your team can only see glittering in space.

Want to be arrogant? Fine. Understand why some of us might be.

There's ill intent in the question but it's a legit question. The Spurs' window for championship success relies directly with Tim Duncan until and unless they find another superstar big that compliments Parker's game. For this core group of players, I would say the window is definitely closing but it's not close to being shut. With the right personnel moves, which is very likely considering Pop's and RC's history of roster decisions, they could definitely extend their window a few years until Duncan is in his late 30s. The Spurs should contend for at least the next 2-3 years should they stay healthy. Their job right now is to develop and acquire some young, athletic talent to help extend that window. And, even if their window is closing, you would think three NBA titles (and another with a different core group of players) would be enough to shut fans of other teams up, especially those who haven't experienced a title in over 30 years.

window isnt shut

when splitter comes over next season, spurs sign a marque FA or a veteran on their last legs wanting to win a ring...and fill the void in the roster with good drafting needs....

I'll even add to that. Ever notice that our "window is closing" when the Spurs lose a game? I mean, say they didn't lose last night, this thread wouldn't exist. It's only here b/c they happened to lose which, you know, happens in professional sports.

Funny thing is, we go through this every single motherfucking year. Does it ever get old? I mean, god damn really old? Does it?

The original post didn't say the window is shut. It said the window is closing. And, I think while the purpose was mere hate, I think there's validity to it. I mean every great team will run its course. It's not like Duncan is going to be 45 years old and Spurs fans are still going to argue the window isn't closing. At some point, the decline starts. And, it's fair to say that this season has shown some signs of it. Now, saying the window is closing doesn't mean it's shut. The Spurs definitely have a few more years of title contention. That's not to say they'll win another, and that's not to say they won't. But, realistically, their window of opportunity is closing even with the youth of Parker. What personnel moves they make over the next 2-3 years will determine how long they can extend that window. Signing a marquee free agent will unlikely change the course when Duncan is done. There will be a down period just with every great team, barring an unforeseen windfall in lottery draft luck the way it happened with Duncan. The window is definitely not shut. But, it's fair to say the window is closing.

Actually the window did close for everyone but the Big 3 and Bonner. We turned over the roster, and while our rebuilding years (2009, 2010, arguably 2011) were still 50 win seasons, we weren't really a contender again until 2012.

So, to push the metaphor, the window was closing and we just went ahead and broke the glass pane.
