Mahinmi is on fire vs Tulsa 66ers today! Toros up 10 late first quarter. Langford with 7 pts.

Probable key: Justin Reed has managed to get off only ONE shot thus far. Langford, D Johnson and Squeaky FEEDING Ian.

Stay tuned...BTW- no video for 2nd straight game.

This is Mahinmi's last game with the Toros before heading out with the Spurs, right? I'm guessing he sees the light at the end of the tunnel and is playing his hardest.

Pretty impressive :tu

Good, Ian should be able to go off on these guys. The guy who would defend him best is out.

I don't think Tulsa is set up for webcasting -- either that or they may have it shut off, the 66ers have a local TV deal and might be broadcasting it. With any luck, they are and we'll be able to catch it on NBAtv soon.

Langford hits a buzzer-beating 3 pointer to make it 42-23 after one quarter.

Ian has 21, Langford 11.

I believe the question of who should be getting the most shots on this team has been answered.

Toros 42 66ers 23 end of 1st--------Mahinmi 21 pts Langford 11 pts

Can they keep this clip up? 42 pts in the quarter?

Langford not known as a 3ball shooter at Kansas and that hurt him a bit in his professional career. Last night vs 66ers he was 4/5 from the three and today in the first quarter he is 2/4. For the season .403 percent. Impressive.

Hopefully someone gets a good picture of him with his mohawk.

Without even looking at the boxscore I can guaransheed that Lang isn't playing. No way Mahinmi scores that much that quickly with Lang getting in the way.

I guess it was just a matter of time.

Mike Hall and David Noel are hitting threes for Tulsa. Toros turning the ball over now.

Inexcusable.

After a perfect 21 point performance in the first quarter, Ian gets ONE (1) shot attempt in the second quarter.

Its called jealousy. :devil

62-51 at halftime for Toros.

Many turnovers and missed shots in the second period.
Mahinmi: one shot (and no foul at all).

I think I heard this is the same crappy ref squad that worked the 14ers game last Wednesday. The 66er coach has a tech from complaining about all the traveling calls. Anything can happen with this crew.

I hope that Pop will give some playtime that isn't garbage time to Mahinmi during the RRT.

Mahinmi will likely have his ass kicked but I think it will help him. So far, he has been quite good in preseason, regular season garbage time and D-League. When he will struggle while playing in the true NBA, it will show him all the work he has to do before becoming a legit NBA player. IMO, Mahinmi needs to have a measuring stick to compare him to NBA players.

There is also the case of Mahinmi playing well in NBA and becoming a member of Spurs rotation as soon as this year. Even with all my French homerism, I have a hard time seeing this as more than a highly unlikely scenario.

Langford got into foul trouble and sat out half 3rd and 4th quarter.

No excuse for Ian only scoring 7 pts in second half. GIMME THE DAMN BALL! :madrun

Still up by two late. Ian got a touch and got to the foul line. Funny how that works. We're lucky our three pointers are falling.

Stupid gamble by Langford with 5 fouls already.

Dermarr Johnson is 6'9 has 5'10 Jason Fontenot guarding him and he shoots a fade away bankshot! :rolleyes Last night out of a timeout with the Toros down 3 and 18 secs to go Dermarr passed up a 3, dribbled, faked and shot a 15 ft and missed. What is his bball IQ?

Toros down 3 with 17 secs to go.

Damn, it sucks.

As someone who doesn't follow Toros closely, I've had the felling that they are "broken" since the start of the showcase and the main reason is the lack of chemistry and some players having a me first attitude.

I don't know if we had much choice today, but Cheyne probably played a little too much given his back spasms. I think that probably affected his D.

The Offensive rebounds sticks out to me. Spurs need a guy to grab OR's. DR's too, actually.

Only 3 defensive rebounds in almost 44 minutes is not a very good sign for a 6'11 center with his athletism. He needs to improve that.
It is nice to be aggressive to grab some OR's but on the defensive side it is not enough.

AFBlue
01-28-2008, 09:15 AM
While Mahinmi certainly hasn't rebounded as well as his athleticism and length should suggest, I have seen some improvement in that category over the last few games.

In fact, Mahinmi has had no less than 8 rebounds in each of the last 7 games....the most consistent stretch to this point.

Again, I'm not saying he's a great rebounder or that he doesn't need work, but it appears he has shown some improvement of late.

thiste
01-28-2008, 09:43 AM
And as someone pointed out before he's obviously been told to defend very little to get rid of his foul problem. He would probably not receive the same kind of directive @ the spurs.

And you seriously have to think he would most certainly have had a 40+ pts night had the team fed him more ball after the first quarter.
