Yea, we have two children less than 3 years and both of us work in different establishment. We need to know if there are any grants or how to go about asking for a grant. We have tried the United Way and they sent us to the Dept. of Public Welfare. We filed the paperwork and were turned down because we were just above the poverty guidelines. Please help us. Any helpful suggestion will grateful.

Well lonelylady, all I can say is welcome to the real world. I guess it time to get second job stop smoking if you do, and stop paying for any luxuries you can save money on like cable, etc.

I do feel for you, but dammit. You are asking for a handout of taxpayer monies when it was your irresponsibility to start a family you cannot support.

I bet good money you will vote for a democrat too. Typical. Voting for those who promise freebies.

Budget, and do what it takes to live within your means. Get some educational grants or loans and better yourselves for a better job.

Stop having children, unless you with to raise them in a houshold that cannot giv them much.

Shop at Wal-Mart like most of us. Put up an antenna for your
TV or use rabbit ears and get rid of the cable. Get rid of the
computer and DSL. Go to dial-up if you just have to have the
computer. And like someone suggested, one of you get a
second job. Being young and having kids is hard. Didn't anyone
ever tell you that? One other thing get rid of one car and have
only one car. Budget, budget, budget. There are places that
will help you sit up a budget. Live on what you make, do not
go into debt. Debt will nickle and dime you to death. You
didn't give us very much information, so don't expect much
advice or helpful hints.

What a ridiculous assumption, and without a single detail to back it up. What if they used to have good jobs? What if they lost them? There could be a million reasons why they are having trouble right now. Do you look at every homeless person on the street and assume they are lazy without knowing the story? Life can throw you some vicious curveballs sometimes.

I don't think WC called them lazy. The folks didn't give us
very much information. But from what they did, it appears
they did try to get government handouts and were seeking
outright grants. But what they didn't say is what
kind of grants. Like school grants, home grants, etc.
But you kinda jumped a conclusion yourself. So
crawl off your bandwagon and get a grip.

They sound very much like what most of us old married
folks went through in our younger years. When you
start a family times are hard, with few exceptions.
In my day, normally we had friends in the same
circumstances, so a Saturday night movie on TV, a
pot of coffee and our friends either over at our house or
us at theirs and that was a night out. Sharing baby
sitting was also a way we saved money. And a
six pack watching Saturday afternoon baseball was
the zenith of the man's world in those days. Baseball
on Saturday was pretty normal, the six pack wasn't.

How come you didn't tell them how to survive? Forgive me
if I give them a little bit of information that was gained over
the years. You are really something.

By the way kiss my foot. Okay!

Real or not, I was responding to the situation and limited information. That's not foolish. I was wondering if I would get something pointing out where I was wrong. The fool is the one not taking it farther if my assumption is incorrect.

.

One more bit of information that was passed on to me by
my Dad. Those weren't the good old days. These are to
good old days to me. Being broke is no fun for anyone.
And living from paycheck to paycheck is no fun. I
know from experience. I don't have that problem any
longer. Because I practiced what I preach.

LOL

I can see how someone extrapolates that, but let me clarify.

Damn poor people trying to leech off me.

Yes.. But with just a smidgen more tack.

I hate poor people.

Strike one. There are several poor people I know and respect. They bust their asses to make ends meet too. I have helped someone I know at one time in excess of $6,000 paying off credit cards and other debt giving them a fresh start because they were not leaches, but came to hard times.

Charity is where it's at, and I give thousands every year in one form or another. Not government style Robin Hoods for political reasons. The more government takes from me, the less I can give as I choose.

Poor people vote Democrat.

This is statistically true. Do you deny that?

Try keeping your legs together, you whore.

Strike two... Almost out...

I mentioned irresponsibility and implied consequences. I never implied morality.
