What a difference a week makes?

Where is the excitement and posts = in years past this site would be filled with anti-LA, trools and pure unalderated smack?

The Truth = Kobe is going to come in here and play incredibly hard and has said so on the air in LA! The guy is on an unreal streak again of 40+ performances. Besides, they are still a dangerous team with perhaps the best one on one player in the game and Odom etc. Spurs simply cannot take them lightly they are still a team to be reckoned with.

Hope those of you that go root hard - this is an important game for the Spurs to bounceback, bring it in all regards, and dominate as I believe they will.

The Lakers blow..the Spurs can bring their C game and still stomp them...they can have a major letdown and still win..this is the worst Laker team in decades.

Hopefully you have your tongue in your cheek, but if not, I hope the players don't feel like you.....they will be in for a very disappointing surprise.

One nice predictable thing about the Spurs this year is that they bounce back high from a loss and bring their A+ game the next time...Hopefully this will be another Laker loss where Kobe scores 40+...

The Lakers are a 6 seed in a tough Conf. We cannot take them lightly. They are a lot like old Suns teams = just enough troubling parts to give anyone a game if they are not on A game.

I despise them but respect them.

If the Lakers were 1-31 I'd still want the Spurs to get up for this game. I'd delight in the Spurs beating LA even if the Lakers were suiting up 12 old grandmas to play the game.

I can't get enough of the Lakers demise. It made my personal 2004 highlight reel.

The Lakers demise? I think they're actually having a very good year, despite rebuilding, and going through injury issues. I never expected the Lakers to be 16-12 at this point in the season! That's 4 games over .500, and a current 6th seed in the playoffs!

Yeah, except they're 1-8 vs. the top ten teams in the league, based on the Sagarin ratings.

It probably wasn't a co-incidence with tonight's game, but this afternoon NBA TV ran the 6th, deciding game of the 1983 WC championship, Lakers@Spurs.

Gervin/Gilmore, vs Magic/Jabbar.

Lakers held on to win, 101 - 100. Jabbar Player of the Game 28 and 10.

Dick Stockton was wondering in the last minutes if it was time for SA, trying to catch Lakers, to roll out their 3-point weapon.

That season, 1983 Spurs led NBA in 3G %age ..... 31% :)

31% would get the 1983 Spurs about 30th position this season. Damn new fangled gimmicks :)

LAL then got swept in the Finals by 6ers.

To me, it's just not the same because the Lakers just aren't as good.

In the past, you knew that the Spurs and Lakers would be fighting for the top spots in the playoffs every year. You knew that the Lakers could very well beat the Spurs in a seven-game series. You knew that Rasho guarding Shaq wouldn't be a pretty sight. You knew that they had the perfect coach for the team. You knew that the role players were battle-tested and knew what to do.

The Lakers will probably make the playoffs and they could give someone trouble in the postseason, but they simply aren't among the league's elite any longer. They could very well win tonight, but they won't beat a healthy Spurs team in a seven game series. I'm very concerned with the elite teams because I feel that they can beat the Spurs in the playoffs, but the Lakers simply aren't among the elite teams any longer.

22 points is not enough! Thump them then no worries.

Ouch, that game hurt and I wanted the Spurs to win. I just didn't want the Lakers to lose this badly.

The Lakers are ordinary. If you switched their unis, it could be Vince and the Nets, minus Kidd. They don't have anyone that rebounds as well as Kidd. :lol

This Lakers team has played a pretty soft schedule (12 games against .500+ teams), and of all .500+ teams LA is 2nd worst in the league vs .500+ teams (3-9 = 25% last time I checked). The Lakers are in my opinion very overrated this season.
