Following Mannys lead.

I went to CNET to download CCleaner and another adware program. My laptop started getting a shit load of pop ups about different adware/spyware programs. I since can't get rid of one adware off my system.

We carry symantec antivirus.

Its a company laptop and I opened a ticket, but well probably wait a while then have to send it in. Want to see if i can get rid of it my own without sending it in and having to wait 2-3 days for it to return.

any suggestions.

I already tried restoring and said it can't restore to the last time is was running fine. Symantec says it has it in Quarantine then to reboot to finish. but it just keeps coming back. i keep getting the same freaking adware advertising pop up freacking window. My IE isn't running the same and can't go to a couple of my intranet sites.

Is your antivirus telling you the name of the program that's causing the problem?

If it's some kind of new trojan or hijacker there are hundreds of those and you usually just have to google the name of the virus/trojan to find out how to get rid of it. A lot of the straight cleaning programs won't get them.

once they latch onto your browser these buggers are hard to get rid of, that's why it's important to stop them before you get infected........you can do a scan on the spy sweeper site here (http://www.webroot.com/En_US/consumer-downloads.html?WRSID=0554d88053991cd7a5677b21138af 7c8) or I'm sure Mouse will be happy to provide a full working copy for a six of red bull....

There is only one thing to get rid of it...............

after that, get rid of your virus protection. it's only slowing down your pc and is not stopping shit as you can see with your infection.

In order to properly get rid of Norton you have to download an Uninstaller!

I use AVG antivirus...it's free and I can often freely cruise infected sites with it...laughing at them. It updates nightly also.

I switched to it 7 0r 8 years ago when it was detetcing a trojan that not even the trojan or pay antivirus software was detecting...and it wasn't even supposed to be trojan software.

I don't think they'll let you use it if your PC is for a business though.

...I don't think they'll let you use it if your PC is for a business though. You can buy a pro licence for AVG to use on your company's computer(s). We have used AVG in our company for the last 3 years, and will continue to do so as long as it performs as well as it has until now.
