That was a fun game to watch. It's actually nice watching a good young team like the Blazers.

You guys just let Lebroom take it to the hole without any resistance though.

I'm shocked that happened. When Ira Newble starts and Cedric Simmons is the first guy off your bench, you aren't supposed to win.

The leaders (actually leader) in the box score is funny:

Game Leaders
CLEVELAND
Points L. James 37
Rebound L. James 14
Assists L. James 4
Steals L. James 2
Blocks L. James 2

Lebron has the potential to surpass Kobe, no doubt about that. If he can develop a jumpshot he would be absolutely unstoppable, even more so than he is now.

Still, I give the nod to Kobe. Kobe has a complete all around game, he has no weaknesses as a player. Plus Kobe has 3 rings and has proven to be a clutch player in the playoffs, when it really matters. Until Lebron has the post season success that Kobe has had I'm hesitant to give him the nod.

I don't understand how Lebroom can hit DAGGER 3 pt'ers in some games. Clutch 3 pt'ers.

And then some games, he has no J.

That inconsistent J is the only thing separating him from TRUE greatness. The kid has everything else to be the best player on the planet.

Kobe is still a more fearsome player. I feel more comfortable playing Lebron in late-game situations than I do Kobe. Kobe has absolutely no conscience.

Kobe is definately better than LeBron. I saw the game tonight and what LeBron did was amazing but if the Cavs are gonna depend on LeBron to make 3 pointers like that to win a game they're going to lose most of the time. He just happen to hit those shots tonight but he doesn't have a consistant outside shot. LeBron's game has a lot to do with power and not so much with offensive skill like Kobe. If LeBron can develope a consistant outside shot to go with his playmaking skills and the ability to overpower people he will be the best player in the league.

I like Kobe better than LeBron. I'm far from a Kobe-hater. And, before this season started and through most of the first half of this season, I have been very adamant that Kobe is still the better player between the two. My opinion has just changed over the last few weeks, which included watching LeBron outplay Kobe in a match up between their two teams and not only play better offensively, but successfully defend Kobe one on one in the fourth quarter. I don't particularly like LeBron. But, right now, he's playing much better basketball than Kobe Bryant.

I don't hate the guy at all. It's just that I don't really like him. It's not dislike. And, it's not because of Game 5. It's more because he plays for a Cleveland team. But, duke has been ballin for a while now. He's the best player in the game.

Cool he really ripped out the hearts of the Blazer fans with those threes... Lebron is proving more and more to be legitimate talent on the level of the greats. He worked on his J in the summer and I was impressed with his improvement on D. With his size and athleticism, he can only get better.

On a sidenote, Lebron is helping the Spurs out indirectly in the standings with his West Coast trip..

Yes he does. He still doesn't know how to be a true leader. There are FAR too many times when he shows that he doesn't know when to take over games. Either he takes over too early, and ends up taking too many dumb shots and passing up easy opportunities that his teammates have found, or he takes over too late, after sitting around and watching his team allow the other team to go on a 16-0 run, instead of taking over and stopping the bleeding as soon as it starts. That is a BIG difference between him and Lebron. Pretty much any time Lebron sees his team start screwing up and the opposing team starts going on a run, he just takes the ball, drives down, and dunks to stop the bleeding, and get his team some momentum.

Don't forget, when Kobe and Jordan started, they wasn't exactly high percentage jump shooters. Kobe didn't really get a consistent 3 until around his 7th season. Took Jordan several years too. But early in their careers, they were like Lebron has been. They could get hot from the 3 point line, but were never really consistent with the long ball. They made a living with the mid-range and driving game, and as defenses adjusted to them, they developed that outside shot.

Not really. Kobe hasn't proved he can lead a team anywhere on his own. Lebron has gotten to the finals, upsetting the hands-down favorite in their conference on the way with one of the greatest playoff performances in NBA history. Where has Kobe gotten? Oh yea, the 1st round... and then left his teammates hanging in a game 7.

Hell, he locked up Kobe in the late 4th quarter in both games this year, while making plays and hitting big shots on Kobe on the other end of the court. Head to head this year, Lebron has totally eaten Kobe alive.

I don't get the rings argument when talking about head to head skill between Kobe and LeBron. Kobe had Shaq in his prime, otherwise he'd have zero titles too.

I'd like to know what people think about this...

If you replace Kobe with Lebron for those years in LA, does LA only get 3 titles? Do they have the messy breakup that they had?

I think LA would have won 4, maybe 5 straight, and possibly another one or two if they had Lebron instead of Kobe.

No amount of leadership skills would have helped Kobe lead a team starting Kwame Brown, Luke Walton, and Smush Parker into the Finals. That argument is retarded. The fact that they made it into the playoffs is an accomplishment IMHO.

I guarantee you Kobe doesn't give a shit about who is the best player in the NBA right now. He's been there and done that. It's all about rings and championships right now, and that's where every Laker fan's mindset is. We don't give a shit about Lebron.

Pissed off because you blew two golden opportunities to get a ring because your franchise is a joke and your star player is the biggest pussy in the NBA.

And newsflash winning championships is a team effort. No player in history has ever gotten it done on their own. They've all been surrounded by great role players. Now that Kobe finally has some help we are seeing just what he can do when he is the leader of the team.

Yup the only people that care about this debate are the Kobe-haters.

Kobe has consistently proven to the NBA that he is the best player. Bron has had a good half season so far, if he can keep this up his entire career then we'll start making these comparisons. AND HIS JUMPSHOT STILL SUCKS BALLS, doesn't even begin to compare to Kobe's. Only advantage he has on Kobe is his driving skills which are due to his insane athleticism.
