As of November 2006, the Spurs rank second among active franchises for the highest winning percentage in NBA history (behind the Los Angeles Lakers).

With the 2007 sweep, the Spurs have the highest winning percentage in NBA Finals history.

They have only missed the playoffs 4 times as an NBA franchise.

In their 30 NBA seasons the Spurs have captured 15 division titles, which gives the Spurs the most division titles in the NBA during the 30-year span (the Lakers are second with 14), among the four major sports the Atlanta Braves are the only other team with 15 divisional titles during the last 30 years.

Impressive.

They also had the highest team winning % for the last 10 years of any major pro sports team.

Really? I knew the Spurs were up there, but would have thought it was the Wankees.. Unless playoffs are included as well.

Thats such a disingenous statistic. If you want to compare the Spurs' winning percentage to other NBA teams, fine. But comparing it to other sports is just STUPID. Particularly baseball.

A 70% winning percentage in the NBA is 57 wins. Not bad but nothing spectacular. An above average playoff team.

A 70% winning percentage in the MLB is 113 wins. To put in perspective, a 100 win season in baseball is considered about as successful as an NBA team winning 60-65 games. No team in the MLB was able to do it last year. In fact, no team in the MLB was even able to win at a 60% clip last year.

Thats the equivalent of no team in the NBA winning 50 games!!

The seasons and winning percentages are completely different due to pitching rotations, double headers, length of season etc.

Its also stupid to compare it football because, due to injuries, its nearly impossible to keep even a "core" group of players around for an extended period of time. IIRC, most NFL careers last an average 3 years.

Compare that to the NBA where most good players play AT LEAST 10 years.
