I don't know if he is feeling threatened by the arrival of Stoudamire or if he just wanted to beat the Suns badly, but Jacques was ready yesterday.
Props ! :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

Bullshit. He's good for 10 minutes a night and most of the time he was SCARED to shoot. Thank God he made enough WIDE OPEN shots to help us win. It was almost embarrasing how resistant he was to shooting the rock.
Vaughn missed more shots last night then he should ever even attempt in a single game.
Sure, the guy was being left wide open. He proved that still does not make him a first option on offense, or a second or third for that matter.
I don't know if it was Vaughn trying to prove them wrong for stepping off of him, or more of Pop trying to turn Vaughn into Parker, but he was single-handedly shooting the Spurs out of the game for most of the second quarter.

Mighty Mouse will be starting no question, but in regards to JV:
He's a solid defensive player, he can at least keep the system from falling apart, and it's not his fault that Mike Fin and the rest of the bench have been vapor this winter. JV was never meant to be an offensive option. BTW assists aren't the only measure of running the O, especially against a team like PHX where we like to make the extra pass.

I don't think I'm going to pat him on the back too hard for his offense tonight, but I was really impressed with the D I saw him play on Nash on a few possessions. It was pretty evident that the Suns had made their decision that JV would have to be the one to beat them, and he did just enough.

Remember Reggie talking about Jacques Vaughn starting off a season at 0 for 22 when he was with the Hawks? lmao.
He might not be the most gifted point guard, but he is a solid player, and he has a lot of heart and character. That goes a long way, especially with Popovich.

I almost posted a thread during the first half that read "Jacque Vaughn = Bad Basketball" when he kept getting his post feeds picked off and he was missing 17 foot jumpers with no one within 8 feet of him.
But he did enough last night, and for that I'm grateful. He's definitely not any more than a 3rd string NBA point guard.

Jacque competes, which is first and foremost what Pop asks of people.
For the same reason, that is why Beno is not here.

Reggie Miller was right the whole time.. If you're not hitting from the outside then take it to the hoop. He needs to learn how to cut to the basket! Timmy was doubled team and all he did was stood around the perimeter .. what the f'ck was that? I say good agressive player with low Basketball IQ.

jv should not be allowed to shot jumpers from beyond the foul line extended area. i cringed every time he shot when he was wide open from the top of the key (a shot he hits with no consistency) because all he had to do was take 2 dribbles in an attempt a closer jumper or get to the rim. he finally realized this in the second half so that was a good thing. notwithstanding, i hope this gives him some confidence in his j. but, he really needs to know his strenghts and limitations to his j, just like Avery when he was a Spur.

im with you on that, yeah he had a season high of 17 last night, but what we arent saying is he should of beat wilt the stilt's record of 100 points in a game with how much the suns were daring him to shoot. Beno wouldnt have been a bad option right here either.......... F it though, all hail to might mouse.....at least for now.

JV deserves props for what he did last night. He competed and he hustled and he defended... and he (even) scored. Is that not what we wanted the Spurs to do versus the Suns?
Now let us see what Stoudamire can bring to the table.

Mike Finley does not come off the bench he is a starter, except for yesterday's game.
Let's not start this. Finley's been playing like trash, and yes he is bench no matter who slots in where on a given night. Otherwise it is impossible to have an ongoing discussion about bench performance given all the moves Popp makes esp. regarding that 2 slot.

JV is what he is. Like someone stated, only good for 10 min a night. Apparently Suns figured he is so bad, you can just play 5 on 4 and leave him wide fucking open and he still isn't going to hurt you too bad.
I suppose we are stuck with him the rest of the year, but let's hope Mighty Mouse is a hell of an upgrade.

I think he needs to be thanked for his defensive efforts that game, not offensive.

His D was nice but we needed someone to relieve the pressure off the constant double teams Duncan was getting. Vaughn's man routinely left him wide open to double Tim, which is a major reason he was frustrated. If Vaughn knocks down a few jumpers, we don't have that problem.

If that's the case, why aren't you playing in the NBA.
You make it sound as simple as going out back and hitting a few jumpers during a pickup game.
FYI. The pace is entirely different.
No offense, but you sound like some punk who hasn't ever played organized ball before. I'm not saying you are...you just sound like one.
Vaughn played well, considering the circumstances, so give him credit where credit is due. It isn't his role to go out and play 25-30 minutes a night. Some of you guys are just arrogant.Really give the guy some credit. He goes out and gives it his all every single night. Most of you guys probabiliy can't even do that at your own job.

Yesterday he played like AJ, when teams used to leave him open all the time. If he had more confidence in his shot and made those jumpers, he'd be good enough to start.

well it is only my mind that counts...so im not really seeing your point there....but nonetheless if you like Jacque that much to ride his balls all the way to the grave then I am fine with that...but I dude is not all that you are making him out to be...the offense lacks productivity when hes on the floor, he takes ill advise shots at times and forces penetration at other times...theirs nothing consistent about JV other then he's all heart...he CAN NOT replicate decent games through out the course of a season....and before you forget let me remind you, Parker just recently won that MVP and yes I would bet my bottom dollar that he used shit like that and the trade rumors to motivate him to step his game up...

Hmmm..I'm not sure...I think minutes will still be there for Damon once TP is back. Pop was tryin to put Tony at the 2 with Vaughn. I think that 2 spot is relagated to Damon. So you might see a TP/Damon or JV/Damon backcourt at times. Essentially, Cisco becomes the oddman out.

let's be honest here JV sucks the guy has no penetration skills to the basket, he misses shots when he is open and several times he loses control of the game when he goes in for Tony P. the guy looks like a chicken with no head that doesn't know what the hell he is doing and about playing good against the Pacers it was because he heard Stoudamire footsteps what the hell JV has done all season the guy can't guard anybody :pctoss

He slower then Mouses car stalled on the highway, yet you guys praise him for what...for his heart...his heart...I mean dont get me wrong I love a dude who is going to get down on the floor like a pimp and scrap for the ball but that will only get you so far these days...just ask Malik. LOL he doesn't get dislodged from the ball on traps and presses. He's a better than average defender who brings maturity, has a great sense of time and space, he plays over or through screens, he doesn't mind getting floor burns, he's aggressive, pays attention to helpside D, closes out strong and tight, and he's a calm leader and he gets paid less than Vassilis Spanoulis is getting paid by the Spurs. He'll even take out the garbage and not complain about it. Who you callin' garbage?
