I feel obligated to point out that the Cafe Mariposa that was in Stone Oak is now called Cafe Paladar and is without a doubt one of the top 3 restaurants in San Antonio. Chef/Owner Brian West is a culinary genius. If you have a special someone in your life, treat them by taking them to Paladar.

They had to change their name because either Nordstoms or Neiman Marcus has an in-store Cafe that goes by Mariposa and apparently they like to sue people.

the place ain't too bad. salsa verde is on the table and goes good with the carne guisada tacos which were okay. the jukebox is always playing. it's a chorizo fest in there, so go in expecting to see all guys sitting around and most likely the ones that built your house. the waitresses are hit and miss. ours had a back tat and was a bit too thick.

there were a couple of flacitas that were nice looking though. me and pops didn't get any 'personal' service, but the waitresses did sit with a couple guys and the girls shake their money maker a little bit if a song they like comes on. i'm sure if you flash a 5 spot or something, you'd get a tableside show...

pops said he went again later that day, as i think he goes quite a bit, and that his buddy said one of the gals was not wearing underpants! another gnome victim.

i didn't ask if they had beer, but i think they close early, like 2 or 3pm, so as to prevent late night puro westside shenanigans.
