The Wizards are a tough scrappy team.
Lots of long forwards who can get out on you quit.
Jamison is a bitch to handle.
Haywood always plays well against the Spurs.
Not suprising to me, Washington has lost 4 in a row is a little desperate. Spurs are on the second of a back to back, some open shots haven't fallen, no biggie.

I actually think Timmy has been the MVP of the league since he has come back from his injury. He put up 22 and 13 a game in Jan and is off to a great start in Feb as well.

He's been great, except for turnovers in some of those games.
It's just that he's so quiet about it. I don't take my eyes off him and I can miss how efficient he is.
It's just another game for him. Excellence through most of it.

True about the TO, but some of those came in games where everyone else was just stinking up the joint so they were force feeding him the ball and he was getting double and triple teamed like crazy. Probably won't happen but i would love to see Timmy get one more league MVP before he is retired. In my mind he is the MVP every year.

He is in my mind too, but those days are gone. I'm thrilled he got the back-to-back ones he did.
I also think he got robbed of a DPOY along the way, but those days are gone too.
I'd love to see him get the repeat, just for the critics.

If they make the finals again and play a worthy opponent he will get finals MVP again. I like Tony but he really lucked out on that one. Timmy was the man all playoffs long, playing great against the best teams and then Tony got Finals MVP against the worst team by far they played in the sweep.

That's called turnabout being fair play...
IMO, DRob was the MVP of the team in 99. He got all the defensive shit work in every series plus he had to carry us against Portand(the toughest series), getting little or no credit for doing it. But Duncan was the guy getting all the shots, especially against the Knicks...and boom, he got the Finals MVP.
That Knicks frontline was nothing...Drob could have owned them as badly if not worse than Duncan did if we'd run the offense through him.
But that's the way it goes...and I'm sure that hit home with Duncan, and he knew exactly how Drob felt, when he watched Parker hoisting that trophy.
I don't like the Finals MVP award anyway...you hear all season long how it's a team game, it's about the team, there is no I in team...and then what do they do when it's all over? Single out an individual for what should be team achievement....and it's really impossible to say what swung the series...sometimes, it's a 40-20 game, but if that Robert Horry 3 doesn't go in at the buzzer, that 40-20 game doesn't mean jack....whether your name is Hakeem, or Shaq, or Duncan.
BonnerDynasty
02-07-2008, 11:59 AM
Only thing Duncan should worry about is getting #5 and sending Shaq into retirement. This IS the Duncan Era. Not Shaq Era.
Let Parker have MVP if he'll use it for motivation and do work..
No one other than BSPN gives a shit about Finals MVP. The RESPECT comes from the rings. Everyone knows this is Duncan's team. Period.

I don't remember every series that was played in 99 but Timmy certainly outplayed Robinson by the numbers. In the playoffs Timmy avg, 23.2 pts and 11.5 rebounds shooting 51%. D-Rob gave 15 and 10 on 48% and yes played great D as he always did but so did Duncan as they were truly the twin towers back then, people were scared to death to come into that lane. As far as the finals go, maybe Robinson would have had the same numbers as Duncan did but it really is irrelevant since Duncan was the better offensive player at that point, so of course it was going to run through him.

And if David had gotten the possessions Duncan had he would have been the leading scorer for us...
The toughest team we faced was Portland...and Drob was the leading scorer in that series....not Duncan.
Duncan scored 5 points in one of those games.
It's like Duncan pretty much got to be the glamour boy agianst the easy teams but the truly tough teams David was the one that carried the load...
Plus, he got the tough defensive assignment in every series...it was David guarding Shaq. not Duncan.
Duncan's not the defensive player David was. Never has been.
And David's reward from Spurs fans for doing the shit work and being unselfish is posts like yours above...which pretty much explains why most players are selfish about getting credit...and shots.

What the hell are you so DAMN bitter about?? the Spurs won the title, relax about D-Rob and his lack of credit. You want the cold hard facts, here it is. D-Rob never even got the Spurs to a NBA finals in a conference that had no dominant team to contend with before Duncan showed up. MJ and the Bulls were not in his way of leading the Spurs to the finals. Ask Ewing and the Knicks or Miller and the Pacers what that was like to deal with. I see years later so many fans like to overrate Duncan's teams and vastly underrate D-Rob's teams, so Robinson has an out for not getting it done in the playoffs. Yeah Duncan is not the defender Robinson is, maybe not but he is one of the best defenders ever and HE is main reason Robinson got any rings. He earned those finals MVP's and most of the credit PERIOD.
