Yahoo blog reported that Goodell was pushing to change the rules to allow for 5th and 6th seeds with better records than the division-winning 3rd and 4th seeds to have home field. Goodell thinks this would put a stop to teams that clinch their seeding early from tanking the final weeks of the season. They cite the Colts (and the Bucs) this year as an example of why tanking is bad, but seriously, three quarters of one game (and Wayne had 12 catches in that time... plz... stfu Yahoo) is not what cost the Colts that game.

Obviously they cite the Giants as the example of why playing every game even if your seed is locked is a good thing. I guess it only applies to the WC round because 1 seeds would still get home field throughout playoffs. Only if some weird situation happened like Chargers go 12-4, beat Colts head to head but lose to Jaguars head to head, Colts and Jags go 12-4 also, but Colts beat Jags twice so they win the division, Colts are eliminated and Jags end up playing Chargers with home field because of H2H win. . .
