STILLWATER -- The date of Oklahoma State's Big 12 football meeting with Texas A&M will not change, Cowboy coach Mike Gundy said on Wednesday.
The Cowboys and Aggies are set to meet in the Saturday, Oct. 4 conference opener at Boone Pickens Stadium.
ESPN had proposed that the game be moved to Thursday, Oct. 2, with a 7 p.m. kickoff to air nationally.
"It's hard for our fans to get here when it's a school night," Gundy said. "A lot of loyal fans have to drive an hour to an hour-and-a-half. It's a disruption of the schedule.
"There were a lot of pros and cons. We received an overwhelming amount of feedback from ticket holders and that weighed in our decision. I'm sure the merchants in this community would love to have it on Saturday as well."
