A buddy of mine who owns a big jewelry store here in town has two big tourneys a year, one at Christmas and one at Valentine's Day to promote his store and to hopefully get players to purchase some jewelry for their significant others.

There were 68 players, and 7 tables in the $300.00 buy-in tourney.

I made it to final table as the massive chip leader and the ten of us agreed to all get our $300 buy-in back and then pay only 5 places instead of 6, so we were all free rolling at that point.

When we got to 5 players, four players were all about even in chips at about 30K, and I had about 150K in chips. They offered a chop deal where I would get $5000.00 and everyone else got 2K, I agreed, as everyone else but one guy, who at that point was not popular, because unless you finished 3rd, you only got $400 for 4th and 5th.

So, we played on and I got heads up against the guy who did not want to chop and I finished him off, he got 4K and I got 5.5K.

In hindsight, the guy made the right decision, because he was the best player at the table, and he made an extra 2k, but the 4th and 5th place guys were sure pissed. :)

Anyway, I am feeling pretty good.

Nice win, but how come you quit so early? You had em all stacked and could've taken down the whole thing.

How I read it is that he wanted to quit early and chop but they didn't come to an agreement and played on (and Jim finally did win). Right?

Anyway, congrats Jim!

I apologize if thats true.

I thought it read that you all agreed on how to chop up the money.

Now I know why I failed reading in 3rd grade.....

Thanks Kori, and you are right, one guy did not want to chop and he is the one that did benefit because he won 4k instead of 2k.
