Does Barry's calf injury preclude the Spurs from trading him... i.e. would that make him fail the physical?
Question.

A team wouldn't trade for Brent Barry. A team would trade for Brent Barry's contract.

Can you trade an injured player under league rules? How can a contract be injured? Do you think Aaron McKie passed a physical?

I thought the physical was a league mandate, even if a team only wanted the contract and could care less if the player was hurt.

Even though McKie has long since been retired.

Sometimes a team didn't even see the player they get.
As examples, Minny never saw Udrih and Spurs never saw Spanoulis.

Intriguing and good to know.
That means nothing should preclude us from trading Barry.
Phew!

Technically, a team can waive the physical if they have no concerns about the player's health.

Thanks, Chump for real talk. I just was wondering if the injury was an obstacle.

Most teams usually conduct physicals for players then they recieve them in a trade, but I don't think it's under the league rules that they have to pass the physical.
And, Aaron McKie was not retired. He has never filed retirement papers or announced a retirement with the NBA, and his most recent action in the league was with the Lakers a couple of years ago, so he hasn't "long since been retired".
