What other Western Conference pretender is going to trade for an old ass has been?

Most Mavs I've heard from away from this board don't like this trade.

Are the Mavs going to sue the next team they lose to in the playoffs? :lol

You know, I might be worried if things had been reversed, with Shaq going to the Mavs, and Kidd going to the Suns, but I'm not seeing anything worth shitting my pants over yet.

Jimmy you're an ass. Spurs fans are happy about this. Happy.

I think the Kidd trade did nothing but make the Spurs-Mavs playoff matchup worse for Dallas. With no Devin Harris to guard Parker and Diop to body up on Duncan, they have worstened their chances to guard a healthy Spurs team. On the plus side, at least the Mavs have someone to try and guard Baron Davis... :p

I think the fact that this is the year of the Mighty Mavericks is enough to shake any Spur fan.

Are you an MFFL? Mark Followill just emailed me and said this was a bad deal...

This headline just in from the future-- "Stats down, Phoenix and Dallas struggling, were the trades a good idea? Meanwhile, steady Spurs surging once again."

This post is further vindication that Mavs fans enjoy proving themselves wrong.

Hey Jimmy, I have two business friends who just called me and ask to nullify the bet we waged in the beginning of the season. Seems that they could not support a JKidd in their line up on top of the monumental choke jobs of the last two seasons. I still won in a certain bet from them where the Mavs might make a dumb trade that would affect the roster and style of play. Cha-ching.

The Spurs (and the faithful fan community) will be shaking with laughter when the Spurs "mop the floor" with all the Western conference teams that are desparately making moves trying to "steal their cheddar".

I'll say this:
All these teams either have "big balls" or are desparate as hell - or both.

Only trade that makes me worry is the Laker trade. Mavs and Suns IMO wont be as tough for San Antonio as they were before the trades.

No.

Not that I wear boots, but nothing about the Suns or Mavs scares me much now, at least not in a 7 game series.

Lakers I think have the pieces to beat us now though. That'd be an interesting series if both teams are healthy.

While everyone "believes" they made a trade to improve the team to knock the Spurs out of the running. Your perception that Dallas will be included in the pack is terribly misguided. The exercise bike is feeling badly these days cause no one ever came to aid the poor thing after Dirk kick the shit out of it after the 2006 Finals. Do you mind? Just a couple of rpm's on the poor thing big fella.

OMG!! There must be a lot of empty seats in the little short buses on the streets of Dallas. right now.

I agree with a previous poster. I am less worried about Mavs and Suns after the trades (though, I was never worried about Suns this year).

I am very worried about Lakers. Hopefully Bynum is out of shape when he comes back... :p:

And I thought, no one on the Spurs has had boobs since Jackie Butler was traded.

To answer the question...no. I thought the Spurs biggest problem matchup wise on Dallas was Devin Harris. They will miss Stack off the bench, and now without Diop, will depend heavily on Dampier. This deal makes their starting lineup better, but the window of opportunity shorter. As a Spurs fan, I like the deal.

Kind of like in 06? Wasn't that a year of the "Mighty Mavericks" too? Followed by choking in the Finals and then being tossed in the first round the following season?

The Spurs have won 4 championships. They've already proven it. The ones who should be worried are Mavs fans like yourself who have to wonder if their team can do it this time or if they'll choke again. The one thing the Mavs HAVE proven.

you're obviously new here. otherwise you'd realize that trade was exactly what spurs fans here have been wishing for and mav fans have been loathing would happen. welcome to the board, uninformed mav fan.

No, and I really don't understand why we should.
The next playoffs will be very interresting and I have no idea how it will turn out.

But I really don't understand why some people here and there think the spurs era is over.
Tim Duncan is 32 and is still a 20/11/3 player. He doesn't rely on athletism and just need to be healthy. When needed he can still focus on his game and dominate both ends of the floor (21/13/3 in january and february) and will prove that on more time in playoff. I see no reason why Duncan should decline before 2 or 3 years if he wants to play.
Ginobili his 31 and plays the best basketball of his life and put down career highs in every statisical category.
Tony Parker is 25 and has improved every season since he entered the league.

These 3 players are spurs until 2010. Bowen is also (I agree Bruce may start declining)
With Splitter and Mahinmi we have 2 valuable C/PF prospects.

We have a lot of expiring contract and the flexibility to build a strong team this summer.

I really don't see why the Spurs should not be considered contenders for the next 2 or 3 seasons.
