View Full Version : Who knew McCain's son....
is a U.S. Marine, and just returned from a tour in Iraq?
He doesn't talk about it, much less exploit it. I respect that.

I didn't know that. I don't agree with his stance on the war, but I do respect his family for backing up their rhetoric with action.

mccain has been to iraq, himself.
what are the chances of anything happening to a mccain in iraq?

Yep, that's admirable, esp compared with all the other war-loving Repug members of Congress whose rich kids abstain.
Anybody heard whether Willard's 5 boys have enlisted, now that they aren't serving their country by helping their father to horrible defeat?

That's respectable.
He is just saving it for when it is down to Obama and him, and he can use that answer for when they ask him about the economy.
"So Mr. MCcain. What will be your plans for the economy...."
"Well, My son just got back from Iraq. I am a vet. I was a pow..."
"Yes, but what will you d......"
"Well, I don't like to mention time tables. Back when I was a pow, and now a vet..."

I honestly don't remember if you are one of the guys that complain constantly about these guys putting family members in the war (ie boutons), but still, what would be good enough for you since this obviously isn't either?
Politician: I support the war.
Liberal: Then why don't you have a family member there?
Politician: I do.
Liberal: Yeah, well..........uh...........er...........what are the odds that anything will happen to him/her?
Politician: You're an idiot.

It is admirable that up until this point McCain has not opted to exploit his son's service for political gain.

Hey stupid fuck...the decision to join or abstain lies in the hands of the kid, not the parent. So trying to reflect the lack of military service on the part of their kids back to the parents, is ignorant.
You are fucking stupid...seriously, you are so fucking stupid it isn't even funny.

spending a tour under complete protection is not sharing the burden of your comrads.
Politician: I support the war.
yeah, i know.
Liberal: Then why don't you have a family member there?
valid question. would not represent the norm.
Politician: I do.
is he hanging out with the prince?
Liberal: Yeah, well..........uh...........er...........what are the odds that anything will happen to him/her?
because i can guess he's not taking point.
Politician: You're an idiot.
so that must mean he's not taking point.
have you seen these trips that politicians have made? they're safer than they would be in urban america.

I'm not arguing that (in fact I'm not really arguing any of this), but what would make you happy in place of having a child in the war that you are supporting?
You can't say whether or not the kid is "on point" or not can you? This is just a baseless assumption right?

i think all of us can assume that a "mccain" is not "taking point" with a high degree of probability.

Maybe, I guess.
Either way, i don't really care. My point is that the argument is constantly made about these guys having vested interest in the war by means of family and then when it happens, it's not good enough.

Furthermore, for all of McCain's short comings, I don't think you can argue his sacrifice that he has made for this country.

agree, but i would rather he refrain from making claims about being the most experienced "war candidate" thats solely based on his 5 1/2 year stay in hanoi.

I wasn't reflecting anything except the flames coming out of Whott's very large caliber asshole.
The Repug parents vote the war that their kids refuse to fight, and of course NOBODY has to pay a fucking penny of the $2T debt wasted in Iraq.
If their kids won't enlist and fight for dubya, especially when recruiting is way down and military forces exhaustion is near the breaking point, that surely reflects on the parents, just as kids who go fight reflects on the parents.
Then we have another class of chickenshits called ST posters many who are vehemently pro-war but refuse to enlist and who won't send dubya a check for $20K to pay for their part. All talk, All war, NO pain.

You do realize he spent 22 years in the Navy right?
22 tears of military service having spent time in war, as a POW, going through the necessary primary military education required to gain the rank of Captain in the Navy, and earning a command position.....
Yeah, I'd say he's the most experienced to fill the role of Commander-in-Chief.

There are very few people I would ask or imply on this board if they were Mormon. Mainly because there isn't anyone here who fits the mold. I know several Mormon people. For starters, we can eliminate all the pansy liberals here. Mormons believe in tithing, charity, planning for one's own future, and so many other standards of morality than almost no one here exhibits. How many lefties here believe in these things rather than believing it's the government's responsibility?
I didn't know McCain's son was military. Good for him. It's a great experience for building character. I only wish McCain wasn't liberal about illegal immigration and intrusive against the first amendment. I could get behind him otherwise. I can give him a bye on other issues I disagree with him on, but illegal immigration especially hits us hard here in Oregon. We are a sanctuary state, and pay for it daily.
