Will Bonzi get any PT in NO?

He did absolutely nothing in HOU.

Bobby Jackson's last NO act was to have a huge scoring game, 5-9 3G, 17 pts, to be the difference in beating the Mavs.

i always lurk around here since this board is pretty active...so i decided to register after this.

complete bullshit salary dump to get les under the luxury tax. i guess the half a billion he has lost in his FMD stock holdings has finally got to him. this sucks....bonzi finally starting to get in shape and mesh with the team and we trade him. this is all about money...luxury tax and getting rid of the idiotic mike james contract that we signed this offseason. but hey i guess jackson becomes valuable next year since expiring contracts are all the rage! woohoo!! :madrun

I dont know what the hell the Rockets were thinking. Why would you trade to the Hornets in the first place. You just help a division leader get even better. Of all people to trade for Bobby Jackson? We are not talking about Bobby Jackson in 2002...where he was a Laker killer. Bobby is done...

Sorry Rocket fans

Wells is hit and miss but for the most part he has improved a lot since he isn't settling for jumpers. He has been hustling, making smart passes, taking it to the hole, and rebounding well. Scola is certainly doing well but Bonzi was doing well with our second unit.

Shit, if you think Bonzi had trouble staying fit in Houston? I swear you can get diabetes by taking a deep breath around some parts of the quarter. If Cafe Du Monde is back up and running the Hornets better hide the beignets or reinforce the bench.

Still, the Rockets are assholes for making this trade. It seems the SW division is bound and determined to make the top teams better. All that's left to do is ship Dirk to Utah.

chron mentioned no names though.

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5557996.html
With the deal, the Rockets will move under the luxury tax and might have an opportunity to make another roster move. Also with the deal, they move their player salaries under the luxury tax threshold of $67.865 million by enough that if there is a player available they would want to add, they could release a player to create a roster spot and sign a free agent to a pro-rated salary for the rest of the season without incurring a luxury tax penalty.

The scary part for the West is this massively upgrades the one thing the Hornets were truly lacking as a team: a legitimate player for their 2nd unit.

Hornets ahve no experience, but all the pieces now.

Popovich was right: some of these trades are just so lopsided it's having an impact on the balance of power in the league in a way it really shouldn't.

The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have acquired guard/forward Bonzi Wells, guard Mike James, and cash considerations from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Adam Haluska, guard Bobby Jackson, forward Marcus Vinicius and a 2008 second round pick. As part of the three-team deal, the Memphis Grizzlies will receive Vinicius, the rights to Malick Badiane and cash considerations in exchange for the rights to Sergei Lishouk.

Hey, we figured we took in all the Katrina folks so we might as well keep giving to the city of New Orleans!!!!

But in all seriousness, the team felt backup PG was a bigger need than backup SG/SF. We were using Brooks as the backup PG and you never really want to rely on a rookie on the playoffs. The play of Novak/Head/Landry made Wells a little more expendable...even though Wells is clearly better than all of them. Jackson knows the system and has a nice expiring next season as well.

This was purely a salary dump by the owner. The trade makes some sense but I think it was a mistake mainly because I feel Jackson has nothing left. Oh, and that aspect about giving a division rival a position of need...but you guys should know all about that (Scola).

This trade is actually not that bad for us. while I hate to see Bonzi go I am glad we got rid of Mike James. Mike is not a team player which is why he played for seven teams in seven NBA seasons. It is also why a rookie was able to beat him out for the backup point spot. As for Bonzi I will miss his rebounding and toughness, but we needed shooters who can hit open shots which is something Bonzi struggled with. He was also a defensive liability and a horrible free throw shooter. If Bobby Jackson gets the open looks that Rafer does I expect our scoring to go up. He won't have much of an adjustment to make because he already knows the offense as well. I just hate the part about helping the FUCKING HORNETS to get him!!!! :madrun Plus we got Gerald Green out of it so it seems like a win win for us to me( I hope).

We need every player to be able to shoot the rock because we need to make the other teams pay the price when they double team Yao.
Last time i check, Marion cant shoot, especially under an half-court offense.

that's how our GM was looking at the trade. just wanted to move snyder and ended up getting a decent project in return. he said green probably wouldn't be suited up much this year and felt that he could learn a lot from the coaching staff. green also said he was excited to be back in houston.
